I had sorta abbandoned this idea. I know it, it's an almost impossible thing, but I also believe it can be made with enough dedication, time and people.
The program will be made for people who have no knowledge of Java. It will be a simple mod maker for SSP.
First of all, do not ask me how to make it, I have no knowledge of Java language.
The mods made here must:
Be compatible with other mods
Be compatible with ModLoader
Requisites to make this:
1) Have a lot of knowledge of Java language.
This mod maker won't only let you modify stuff from the original game, but also to create your own epic stuff that overpasses Minecraft actual possibilities!
Here is what the mod maker will have:
Structure:
The buttons will be based on the stuff that is mentioned. When you start, the names of the makers will appear in buttons plus the options. Example: Item Maker will be a button. 1) Item Maker:
Tool: This button will be tickable. If selected, these options will appear: Time to break:
Time to break glass or leaves: A bar will appear where if it's left, it will take less time to break. If it's on right, it will take more time to break. It will have a button
Time to break dirt, sand, gravel or grass
Time to break Stone: Same as above
Time to break Cobblestone, mossy cobblestone.
Time to break coal
Time to break Iron ore
Time to break gold ore.
Time to break Diamond.
Time to break obsidan.
Time to break a custom block: If the mod brings more blocks, here is where the options will come out for breaking them. Durability: If it's a tool, the durability will go here. If the bar is on left, it's durability will be short. If it's at the very right, it will turn invincible. The highest durability before invincibility is 10000.
Each bar will show up numbers depending of what it's talking about. Crafting Recipe:
This is the space where you can make the recipe!. Everytime you click on a square on the right you will get, a list of every game material plus the materials made with the mod. You can't leave it empty except if you want it come from a smelting. Smelt Fuel: If it needs to be obtained from a smelt, here is where you can select what material is needed to be smelted to form this material. You can't leave it empty except if you want it to craft it
[>>-i>] Bullet: [>>-i>]
If it's for a weapon, here you can change it to become a bullet.
[>>-i>] Range attack: [>>-i>]
If you want it have a range attack, you can also select the bullet.
2) Mob Maker
Life: Here a health bar will be put. It can be a 0,5 heart creature or 100 heart creature. Size: Make the creature enter through 0,5 spaces or make it so huge people could see it from miles! The size will be to 0.5x0.5x0.5 to 40x40x40 Hostile/Neutral/Passive: If it's hostile, a bar will pop-out on the mod maker to determine the attack radius. It will be from 1 block to 100 blocks. Other buttons are self-explinatory.
[>>-i>] Attack: [>>-i>] It will be from 0,5 to 10 hearts. You can also choose the kind of attack, from normal attacks to fireballs. AI: It can attack you following you, sneak behind you, attack but don't follow you, or if it's passive or neutral to follow you but don't attack you. Moving Place: The mob can fly, walk on earth, caves, swim on water and swim on lava! Pet: If it will be a pet, here you can see how you feed it. Loot: Here you can select what the mob drops upon death. It will range from nothing to 10 materials (the dropping materials don't need to be all the same). And you can make it divide or ressurect in another mod! Walking: You can make it 2 legged, 4 legged or with many legs on spider-like position. Saddle Ridable: If you want it to be ridden off a saddle, here is the place for you! Preview: The skin must be .png. This will be a 3D preview of the mob, walking.
3) Block Maker Effects on the player: It can be either slow it down, make him faster, hurt him, burn him, heal him, etc. Liquid: This option will let you choose if it's liquid or not. If it's ticked, you will be able to swim on it and it will also act as water or lava. Physics: If it's ticked, the block will fall to the ground when unsupported. GUI: This option will let you to choose these stuff:
1) Crafting: If you want it, you can have items a lot bigger than just 3x3! Maximum size of crafting GUI: 7x7
2) Storage: If it's for storage, then the size will be decided from here
4)Player Options
Place/break Blocks: If this is unticked, the player won't be able to break or place blocks. God Mode: If this is ticked, the player can't be killed by anyone on the game.
Options (independent from any maker).
NOTE: As this is the option section, it won't affect the mod itself, but it would affect the mod maker. Invincibility message: If it's off, on the Item Maker, on the durability bar when the scroller is on most right it will automaticly put it on invincible. If it's on, a message will pop up when it's on the most right, saying this:
Are you sure you want to make the tool invincible?
If you click on yes, it will be invincible. If you click on no, it's durability will be set to 10000.
Why this should be added:
Notch doesn't have time enough to add the suggestions to the game. Maybe when he's working, we could actually satisfy our suggestions. I mean, look! There is an entire section on the forums about this! I am not pissed off, but making this mod maker for those people will be so great!

I am a modder and this is pretty impossible to make. It would require a dedicated team of people going through the code and finding values. BTW, the mob maker portion is not that hard, it just requires someone who is not lazy and knows how to make mobs. The item and the player options will be hard. If someone decides to start making this, count me in as a reference guide / coworker. I agree this would be great, but would be a ***** to code. It would put all other projects to shame if made though.
ModLoader sucks though. Notch said in his Twitter that he would be working on a Texture Pack/Mod API (Adaptable Plug In) that would allow mods to work together without conflicts, unless the conflicts are impossible to resolve. Tool/Mob/Gameplay creation/modification and what not for everyone shouldn't be added until Notch is actually done with the game, due to the fact that nobody will have to buy the game anymore when it updates when you could just create everything by yourself. It would make it easier for nobodies to code their own tools into the game, and satisfy most people of the modding community, but it should be reserved as a separate program from the actual Minecraft game that you could add.

This isn't exactly a bad thing though... Bad for Mojang though.

Well, these mods are for moderated ones. That means if Mojang want it, they can create aliens.

Yes, I know it. You can make first the mob maker and then the rest. Oh and BTW this is what I said on the requisites:
1) Have a lot of knowledge of Java language.
No just no. This would be worse then MMI/MMB. Think of this each item is mostly unique and some have their own classes and their own methods. It would be almost impossible to have a program that writes everything out and not make a mistake. And more then likely it will make lots of mistakes and since you don't know the language you will be unable to fix it. Theres a reason why modding is left to those who know how to do it. Not to those who know of to click buttons and yell at other people to do their work for them.
It would be alot easier to sit down and try and learn the language or just live and let the idea go.

This is a suggestion. I am suggesting to make this, not forcing to make this. I don't ignore that it may have bugs. And I also said to have lots of Java language knowledge to make this! Oh and BTW what is MMI or MMB?

It takes alot to make it. But whats the use so people who don't know how to write java can make mods so that when the program does make a mistake they will have no idea how to fix it and then go yelling at the maker that it doesn't work when he spent months working on it an you weren't willing to sit down and make a commitment to learn something so you can do what you want.
And MMI and MMB is make my item and make my block. Basically let anyone be able to make blocks and items. And almost all of them wanted to release it because they thought they were a great modder for writing 10 lines of "code".

Sorry! Minecraft is a sandbox game, not a sandbox game maker. I don't think a sandbox game maker will exist for some time... and by time I mean years.

As a sandbox game and, more importantly, an acclaimed creative game, it fits perfectly well that players should have a method of creating and implementing mods to custom-tailor the game to their wishes. A single game that is, simultaneously, any number of unique custom games. You cannot get more epic than that.
It would be a major ***** to code, but still possible with enough dedication and workers. The question is, can we find that here? It should likely be a separate program though. Somebody toss this to the jackals over in Modding. Kinkaz? :tongue.gif:
