I think in order to enhance Minecraft gameplay, the weather should be enhanced.
Tornadoes:
When it is raining in Minecraft, there is a 10% chance per five minutes that a tornado will form. Tornadoes can blow you up in the sky which could be useful if you have Elytra! However, it will also blow around every nearby block and mobs. They will reach up to the build limit and the diameter shall vary. You take damage (-3 hearts) if you get hit by a block.
Lightning:
Lightning in Minecraft should have ground current where you take damage (-3 hearts) if you are within 15 blocks from lightning. Dry biomes should have lightning but without rain (Dry lightning).
Acid Rain:
1 and 20 rainstorms should be acid rain where mobs take damage (-1 hearts per second) from being in rain including mobs.

No. I don't think most people would enjoy having their buildings destroyed and not being able to do anything about it, just because a random tornado appeared out of nowhere. Same for acid rain. Players shouldn't be punished for going out exploring on an unfortunate night, without having anything to do about it.

Have you tried searching for other suggestions about Acid Rain, Tornadoes or other natural disasters? They have all been critically panned.
Since January 1st of 2017, we've had another suggestion for Acid Rain. (I'm sure there are more that didn't make it into my search results.) Here are some nice quotes for you:
have fun spawning in a world, first rainstorm is acid rain.
Every piece of grass dies, so you can't get seeds. Every animal gets murdered and doesn't respawn, and all trees lose their leaves so you can't regrow them using saplings.
All of this without the player having any control over it.
no support.
In fact, I actually posted on this thread, and I feel like this needs to be posted on any thread with acid rain, mega creepers, tornadoes or other trollish, griefing objects:
Block griefing should only happen when any of these are satisfied:
- The player intends for the griefing to happen (Digging, Building, TNT or Pistons that the player has placed, etc.)
- The player makes a mistake. (Creepers, TNT misplacement)
- The damage is contained or minimized. (Lightning, Ghasts, Ender Dragon griefing, Villager crop farming, etc.)
Other than these, any other block griefing is just a way of trolling the player and being annoying. Believe it or not, there are some people that don't [/i]want their builds to get wrecked by random, uncontrollable events.
Oh how I wish the Suggestions Guide was still pinned to the top of this subforum...

My avatar is a texture from a small block game I made in Python. It's not very good and it probably won't work if you install it.
I'm very alone in my Minecraft worlds as I don't have a very good internet connection to run a server. If you're like me, you might be interested in my Posse mod suggestion.
Avoid using "The _____ Update" when posting suggestions. Having an "update" title indirectly suggests that this should be the only thing added next update.
As for the actual idea, it wouldn't work for a number of reasons. First, disasters have the potential to wreck havoc on people worlds. This is especially true to long term survival players- you would have to enable cheats to stop tornadoes form ruining their bases! Acid rain and lightning aren't as bad, but the same thought process can be applied.
Secondly, these disasters occur way too often. 1 in 20 times it rains it'll rain acid? And 1 in 10 times there will be a tornado? If natural disasters were to occur (not saying that they should) they should at least by rare.
Lastly, the damage players would take from disasters is also too much. What if you're walking in a plains biome and all of a sudden acid rain starts? Now you have 10 seconds to build a cover and wait, or else you'll die of the acid. Likewise, what if you're just minding your own business and then a tornado happens? You'd be thrown in the air and die of fall damage before you knew what hit you!

I do not know why but that part made me laugh.
The tornado could be a thing only if it is rare and can be turned off by choice. Th Lighting too can help it seems realistic in a way.
You're suggesting things that have been smacked away for years. Uncontrollable natural disasters aren't fun in any way.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
If there's anything I've learned from listening to the TF2 community complain, it's that people hate being in a position of helplessness. I doubt that people will want their hard work to be destroyed because RNGesus said so.

it becomes a mysterious, awesome, incredibly magnificent world in itself"-Henry Miller
The thing is, when mobs are about to kill you are you are about to starve, just put it on peaceful. There goes the challenge.
With this idea, you can still enjoy a challenge and not be tempted to cheat this way.
That doesn't work as a good solution. What if the difficulty is locked? Peaceful is not gonna make up for troll tornadoes that destroy everything just because.

It basically is cheating though. It's a cheap way to get out of dying.
About to die due to your lack of skill? No problem! Just turn it to peaceful mode and get away with never dying to monsters without any consequences!
Also changing it to peaceful isn't gonna take away the weather.

Ever see a bad forum post online? That's probably me.
First 2 sounds good but should have an option or disable it. The Acid rain i say no.
Partly Support.
Nothing can go here but time itself.

Mojang has purposely avoided adding something like this. It goes without saying that this would cause massive destruction and wouldn't be any fun.
