If you look at the overworld, you'll see it's filled with variaton. There are different biomes, different types of wood, and different animals. In the nether, we don't have this. It is 1 biome, and that's it. No variaton. Since I like exploring and finding new things, I thought: "Why hasn't the nether got different biomes". So I designed the firewood forest.
This is what a forest looks like:
These forest spawn in the nether, hanging on big areas of soulsand on the ceiling. They are not very rare but only spawn above lava lakes, since that is where the light comes from.
The block look like this:
These blocks are like spruce wood, but red.
Firewood is almost the same as normal wood, but there are 4 differences
1. Firewood planks smelt the same as coal (8 items) instead of normal wood (1.5 items)
2. Firewood boats can float on lava, but will sink in water:
3. Firewood saplings need to be placed on soulsand. They can be place both normal and upside-down but upside-down will make them grow 40% faster
4. Firewood can't burn in fire:
Q&A Here I post answers for questions so not everyone asks the same questions
Q: It is fireproof but can burn in a furnace?
A: Coal blocks also have that
Q: Isn't the nether a dead and barren place? How can any plants grow.
A: Just like all mobs, they managed to survive by adapting to the location. These are the only plants that managed to survive. At first, they were normal spruce trees like the ones in the overworld. But when the world became hellish, only the best plants could survive. At first, more trees near the lava died, because it's too hot there. Then, trees with less lighthad more chance of dying. So trees wich were higher up got more light of the lava and had more chance of surviving.
Q: How did they grow upside down
A: For the same reason I just said. Water is very very rare in the nether. The only water that is there sits inside soulsand, this is what allows nether wart too grow. For the trees, transporting water up a tree will make it lose a little bit of the water. But if you only have so view, that little bit can be the difference between dying and surviving. The trees wich were slightly tilted to the side had more chance of surviving. This evolved into what they are now.
Q: How don't they fall of?
A: The trees with better roots had more chance of surviving. This evolved into what they are now
I hope you like my idea if this gets much support I probably will design other biomes as well.
Sorry if my English is very bad English isn't my first language.

Well, the nether do seem empty in terms of biomes. Since minecraft isn't realistic, I guess fire immune wood is okay. It'll also useful in the nether too.
100% support.

Having any kind of wood in the Nether is weird. Any kind of forest in the Nether just seems too out there for me, since the dimension is supposed to be a barren hellish place where can't exist no matter what. I'm fine with adding stuff but not wood that manages to survive in hell itself. No support.

I've built trees in the Nether out of quartz ore and glowstone blocks. They looked pretty cool.

These trees would be better, yes.
But I really love the idea of having lava boats. And putting some new plant thing into the nether would be nice for getting a new material for those boats.
I'd just would it like to be less like a normal tree. The chorus plant of the end is a nice idea - maybe make a counterpart for the nether. Something that is different than the already existing plants.
These plants should be not too abundant but also not TOO rare. Because a lava boat would be for exploring and there is no need for exploring any more when you already searched half the nether for the materials for it. ^ ^
In general I find the different biome idea good. Could be real fun.

I don't really understand the point of this?

See, the problem with ideas like this is that they are constantly suggested, the same idea of a forest, with "Fire" or "lava" as a prefix/suffix to it and worded to look all mythical and mysterious. It's not an original idea to add to a game, and therefore, it wouldn't add any variety or interest into the Nether, especially after a few weeks being added.
Why can't more original ideas for dimension biomes appear? Like irregular narrow structures of netherrack that reach the ceiling, or cracked up landscape with lava flowing through between little 'islands' of land, or just giant trenches with natural broken bridges going across it. You never hear about those types of landscapes or biomes people would like to hear from a dimension literally named after the concept of Hell, it's always a copy of a forest from the overworld brought into the Nether.
Look at the End, they have their own unique type of forest; tall, slender structures that are made to resemble trees (and yet, they look nothing like trees), and that still adds depth to The End as well with the extension of End islands and buildings.

The only bad thing is that trees would be a bit jarring. I suggest to either make them grow upside-down (After all, all the light would come from lava beneath), or give them an unique shape that makes them look like some sort of distorted trees.

I think some variation to the nether would be great and extremely refreshing to the more veteran players especially, would love to see this idea developed maybe on a bigger scale so you can actually explore it?
if this idea gets much support I may actually change a big part of the nether with different biomes so people can actually experience it instead of some screenshots

I'm sorry, but I cannot take this Q&A seriously if you're going to use false information and only using inferences you've made. Where on earth in the official wiki does it say that Nether mobs have 'adapted' to the environment (Sure, they are fire proof and can survive in it, but that doesn't mean the idea of evolution and adaptation is present throughout Minecraft), or that Soul Sand is moist with water (and it's already been proven that you can't place water in the Nether, which makes this point flawed), or that the Nether was once lush and fertile? You simply cannot use world-building based on YOUR ideas to justify the reason to implement Nether forests, when Minecraft is based around the player's own choices and inferences they make on the game. Simply providing answers to the unexplained isn't part of Minecraft and should never be just to justify your suggestion.
I have to protest the trees, however. Having tree-like structures or plants in the Nether could be cool, but if they give the player wood that's usable for crafting, that reduces the hostility of the Nether significantly. Your suggestion places the nether wood as being even better than regular wood. I'd say any lava boats should be made from something rare and/or difficult to obtain, while any nether wood or trees should not function for most wood crafting purposes. In furnaces they should probably provide less fuel rather than more, or they could just grow very slowly.
