Well, I am going to suggest slabs and stairs as being an additional string put on to the original blocks. Rather than being separate IDs like I originally suggested, I am going to say that it will be command stuff. I am suggesting that all blocks can have slabs or stairs. It will be the same crafting recipe as current slabs/stairs, just with different materials. So instead of saying /give @p minecraft:stone_slab 1 -, we would say /give @p minecraft:(any block, for example, stone) 1 0 {Slab:true}, or /give @p minecraft:diamond_block 1 0 {Stairs:true}. Now, I am aware that getting slabs and stairs through commands will be more difficult to type in, but we don't have to deal with using substitutes. Don't worry, they will still be accessible without commands or crafting. Just like potions, slabs will have their own section (and so will stairs) instead of being mixed in with other categories.

Im In the middle i feel yes they should add more slabs for the builder type people then no since i feel they need to focus more efforts on performance and a little more advanced pvp

Verdict: Neutral
why does it matter on what they are focusing on already? you shouldn't ever take that into account when judging a suggestion.
I think this is a great idea! But I highly doubt it will get added any time soon, if ever. There might be a mod that adds slabs for almost everything. Also stairs would be cool.

are you trolling orrr? you should always take into account what the devs are working on its called being realistic if i said i want a new world type well then what are the devs investing there time and money on atm if its a small thing fine but adding in slabs for every block doesnt seem realisticly easy at all

Just because the developers are working on a combat update now doesn't mean they won't add in a little extra, or make another update for another reason. Like "Minecraft 1.10 the builders update" or whatever and include any of these suggestions

I agree with this. I want more slabs too--but only for the building section. They wouldn't appear in world generation, but I really want slightly thicker slabs of different wool than just those thin carpet slabs...also slabs for each type of clay--also I agree with slabs for leaves--this would make foliage I construct look more well-rounded/less jagged.

Working on my first world! Survival map Secret World House![1.7.10]with a *close to* 1:1 (not really lol, after trying to make a computer keyboard look 1:1 in build, it's more like 0.88:1 scale of a giant house! (my house IRL). Still working on it solo, would like some help soon---it doesn't need to look like my house, framework of house still supports custom-size, shape, and layout of most rooms.
Changelog 9 May 2015:
-carved out more space from y=66/normal-y-height to y=20 to allow more room for 1st floor
-designing landscape outside of house on paper for now, will use WorldEdit to make large, smooth and life-size looking shrubberies and plants, working on a good landscape gradient from ~y=30 to y=bedrock for dirt, grass, stone, brick, etc. (walkways, driveway, greenbelt)

It could be nice to make thin slabs of many things, and make them stackable like snow, so you can choose the thickness you want.

I want ocean content(thanks Möjang!), nether biomes(again thanks!!), and savanna passive mobs (meerkats incoming!?).
I've seen this suggestion for a long time, but it's still a good idea. There's really no reason to not have slab options for the decorative blocks at least - like Granite, etc.
If it requires a rewrite of the block data, so be it. It's a mess and has been since the start of the game so I wouldn't mind a overhaul of block data anyway.
First of all, before I say anything, I am not sure if a similar thread has been created in the last month, so don't go saying I meant for this to be redundant or something. That's why you use the search function. I have always wanted to have a slab for most blocks (NOT leaves). It would be neat to have like grass slabs (but then, maybe this would mess up generation) and glass slabs and all of that, but ONLY in the building blocks section You need to be more specific than that., because I don't want to have ridiculous slabs such as anvil slabs or something else ridiculous. But having slabs shouldn't change their physics, so like glass slabs will float while sand slabs would fall That's logical.. But if these slabs will ever have anything to do with generation, make sure it is a different world type (under more options I mean World type: realistic) Well do you want them to do with generation or not? You need to be specific and not say "if".. Also, don't say this is really bad because this is my first suggestion that I know of. People aren't going to not criticize you because you're new to suggesting. If you had read the pinned threads, you would know this.

??? I don't know what you mean or if you support or not. There is the world's best invention called grammar. It makes it hard to read without grammar.

I don't even play Minecraft much anymore yet here I am on the Minecraft forums for some reason...
I think it'd be better off if left as a mod. in minecraft, we need more content with less "fillers" like hundreds of half-slabs. good idea, but only for some people
While more slabs would be useful, some blocks don't fit for slabs.
I could support if a list of all the slab types was provided.
Yes that is true because here is a list of slabs that I think would not fit well.
Leaves
tool blocks (crafting table, command block, furnace, etc.)
Redstone mechanism blocks (such as pistons or TNT)
And sure, it would be cool to have a realistic world option (with worlds using slabs)

Yes. More slabs.
Clay.
Glass "Some famous YouTubers have been asking for this one for a long time"
All new stone types.
If someone from Mindcrack says something we will get it...
That's how we got the netherbrick half slab to begin with. Thanks GenerikB!!!
At the very least, I want to see Granite, Andesite, and Diorite slabs and stairs. Shouldn't these things be super easy to add?
I want
ocean content(thanks Möjang!),nether biomes(again thanks!!), and savanna passive mobs (meerkats incoming!?).Yeah...

It would be cool to have more slabs but it would take up more space in the creative tab,
