Personally, I have gotten some enchants from the table that honestly suck.
So, what if you could absorb an enchantment from an item using an anvil?
All you have to do is put the item into the first slot, then a book in the second slot. Doing this gets rid of one of your enchantments that you choose from by left-clicking in the enchant you want (This is reversable, just left-click on a different enchant) Doing this will cost one level of exp, 3 if your item is named, and one additional level of exp for every enchant you have on the item. (I.E, I have a sword called Theqoree's Sword, has bane of arthropods III and knockback I, it'll cost me 4 levels of exp to remove one of those enchants.)

I like this idea. But a few measures would have to be taken to make it not OP. Otherwise, you could have, for example, a sword with sharpness IV. That sword's durability is almost gone, so with a cost a couple levels, you could remove the enchantment, and put it on a brand new sword. Therefore, the enchant could only be absorbed if the item has not been used.

Then try putting durability into the level calculation, every 10% of durability done would cost you 3 * % Durability Rounded to the nearest 10th then remove a zero at the end.
So a sword With 25-30% dealt to it durability will cost you 9 extra levels plus the amount for enchantments and naming.
That's perfect. I also have another idea. What if you could duplicate the enchanted books, but at a cost? It would charge you XP and bring down the level, but would be pretty useful. Let's say you have a friend join a server. You have a good fortune III pickaxe, but you want your friend to have something too. So you first absorb the enchant into a book. Then, you distribute the enchantment over 2 books. You lose a few levels of XP, and you now have 2 fortune II books, instead of one fortune III book. That's one for each of you, at the cost of some levels.

Does this sound too OP?
Actually, that can be abused. If fortune went to level IV (4) and you split fortune III to fortune II, you can combine them to make fortune IV, how about it splits the levels in half, rounded up instead? You'll end up getting a fortune II book, and the one your splitting will now have fortune I
I might be wrong, but I think combining enchanted books of the same level brings it up a level, not the sum of both levels.
Actually, unless the item and book are the same level, there is no level combining, it just simply gives you the level of the enchantment with the higher level. So I think your method would still work, not sure. I did test this right now, though.
BTWs, this doesn't put the enchantment into the book, it sorta gets rid of the book, 1 lvl of exp and the enchant.

No support if the enchantment is put on the book, because then you could very easily make specific enchanted books like silk touch. Normally enchanting books is tricky because they can get anything, unlike a bow.
Also when you combine two items with the same enchant level it just goes up by one level.
If this just uses the book and some levels to remove the enchantments, yes all of them, then this has my full support.
The way anvils work now makes it quite difficult to get both an enchanted book and de-enchanted sword.
I need more brain power! *sips coffee* *crashes*

That last post makes it extremely UP and no one would use the feature. I'd prefer it better if enchants went onto the book.
Well, I think I found what I'LL be in the after life. <3 Goats for life.
1 Enchantment = 5 + Level of enchantment (i.e. Sharpness II would equal 6 levels)
Name = +1
Apart from that, I Support

However, I don't think names should add to the cost. As a purely aesthetic feature, it makes no sense that they'd cost more.
