There's always that guy that says "Oh, I've played since classic!" or "I'm 19". When it's clear that they're lying.
What if there was profile settings on the Minecraft website? It would show when you made your account, and how old you are. It would also say how many bans you have and recent played servers, so then you know the truth about a player, and that they are not lying. It also shows how recent you logged in, and what server you are currently playing. You could also go in the profile section and block a certain player, so then the player can't see you chat or cannot see your player info. You will not be seen in tab either.
You can customize what players can and can't see. Except for the joining date, recent servers, and ban count. This is so you could find lost friends, or find information about a player.

I agree with all of this, except age. Some people don't want their age known. This would also stop me from saying I played since indev, because I used a friends account until 1.2.3 :/ But, other than the age part, I support.

As long as we can control what people do and don't see, like age, I think this is a pretty solid idea. You know the threat level a player could be to your server, and they can inform you on certain details of themselves. I support this.

My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic
By law anyone 13 and under you Minecraft is not allowed to display their age.

2.) Why wouldn't they just lie on the player info profile?
3.) How would they see this?
3.) Why... Why... Would they want to add that whole bandwith-consuming thing on their website...?
1.) I said it was optional, you can show it or not.
2.) The join date is not customizable.
3.) By going into the Profile setting,
4.) Because why not, also, you did two 3.)'s

Some of that information could be useful, but there's a few problems with the ban count thing. Bans are only on the server that applied them, so unless you force the server to give Mojang information about bans, they won't know about them. And even then, what's stopping me from downloading the server software and banning you for absolutely no reason from a server you can't even connect to? How would Mojang treat multiple servers running off the same IP, and what would be stopping me from running 50 separate copies of the server software at once just to ban people to boost their ban count? How would it treat a server that goes up once, bans a single person, goes down 5 minutes later, and never goes back up? I'd also recommend against recent server information. I really only play on a single private server, and I'd rather not have that IP get out. Even if it's not very likely that anyone cares enough to try to get the IP to that server, and it's whitelisted anyway, there's people that others would care about that have very public MC usernames.
What Konork said. Also birth date is required to join Minecraft in the first place (I don't think? It's been awhile. I'm pretty sure you just check "I am at least 13 or with someone who is over 18") and what's to stop people from lying on their profile the same as when they chat on the server?
