I give this suggestion support. However, I think there should be some aspects added to it that have to do with enchanting. Instead of armor reducing kick-back, there should be an enchantment. Each level reduces it more. The maximum level would be 5. Unbreaking should also work on muskets.

And you don't think that would be redundant?
First of all, I don't think any new enchantments should be added just for the Musket, such as Kick-back reduction or otherwise.
Furthermore, I don't think there would be any benefit to Unbreaking. Chances are, if you're able to craft large amounts of ammo then you're already at an endgame point with materials, so it would be very simple to make as many Muskets as you'd like. I don't see the benefit to the player at all. Enchanting the Musket doesn't seem necessary.
But anyway, thanks for the support. Nice avatar, I love The Walking Dead,
You know, I think it's funny that every time somebody has a hollow meaningless complaint, that doesn't hold any water, and I end up asking them to explain themselves, they NEVER reply back, no matter how nicely I'm asking them to tell me why they believe something. All it means is that they know their complaints don't stand in any ground, they simply don't like my idea and don't want to actually explain why.

This would ruin minecraft factions and PVP, Besides, we already have bows..
Take this as an example. I've had like six of these already. You know the posts: the ones that don't actually explain the complaint, it's just kind of there. "This would ruin factions and PVP". Why would it ruin factions and PVP? I've asked for an explanation to every one of these explanationless posts, and none of them ever replies back.
Who knows, maybe GetShipRekt will be the one outlier, that one odd man out who decides to actually explain himself.
I'm not trying to be mean, I just really wish people would give me their reasons for saying certain things.
@GetShipRekt: Thanks for your unverifiable and insubstantial claim. Since you don't feel the need to validate your claim; I feel it's safe to ignore it.

Thank you
Let's face it , bows in factions are already bad, water fights are useless and bow aim botting is horribly overused, now if we have muskets then they will be like bows but more powerful with longer range, rendering sword fighting, the main pvp weapon, useless. If we add muskets we will be like a version of CSGO, beside, we really never needed steak, and we already have a ranged weapon, so why ruin pvp that much more. The sprint key hurt experienced papers because anyone can combo now, and if they implement muskets I know a few thousands of players who will be quitting. Faction players are a lot of mojangs minecraft income, we buy hundreds of alts to support our factions. So why scare then away?

Musket's have a FAR shorter range than the bow, which you would know if you actually read my original post.
Swords wouldn't be useless, they would actually be better for certain situations, which you would know if you actually read my original post.
No it would not be like whatever video game you just compared "Minecraft with Muskets" to. I'm pretty sure whatever it is, it's already as, quote, as you think Muskets would make Minecraft. But, again, you would already know how non-similar it would be to other games if you actually read my original post.
Experienced "Papers" weren't hurt by the sprint key, the sprint key made the game better for all "Papers" thanks.
I'm going to have to say goodbye to those "Thousands of Players" who will be quitting, and thank you for staying with Minecraft through all the other drastic changes to the game, like Pistons, XP, the food bar, Water Temples, Endermen, Rabbits, Horses, and Abandoned Mineshafts. Maybe it's a good thing we'll be scaring "then" away.
Thank you for explaining yourself, GetShipRekt. It certainly helped a lot lot less than I thought it would.
While this is very well-written, I think that it's incredibly underpowered, as you have it. Fifty blocks really isn't that long of a distance, and the damage decrease is very steep.
That, combined with the fire charge ammo and the need to reload after every shot, would make the musket pretty much useless.
I can't back this unless it is made more on-par with the bow.

I understand what you mean, but I think it should be more of an end-game thing. I could make the Ammo cheaper, but I don't really know how to go about doing so without making it unbalanced. I don't like the idea of giving the player the Musket before the bow, or at the same time as the bow. One should have to go to the nether to get the ammo. Would Nether Brick be better in place of the Firecharges?
Really, I think the recipe looks fine as-is, but I think the damage should start to drop off after ~10-15 blocks, instead of immediately.
The bow would probably still be my weapon of choice, since there isn't a damage drop at all, but might as well make getting that blaze powder worth it. ;D

You know how they changed the Render-Distance fog so that it only appears at the edge of the loaded chunks, not necessarily starting where the player's head is? I think I'm going to change the range to be like this. It'll be 100% for 25 blocks, and then taper off, until at 75 blocks it reaches 0%. 70 meters was the greatest possible effective range of a Musket, 50 meters commonly being the least possible range, so I think this still works.
Either way, I'm going to start a poll attached to this thread, regarding whether or not people want a damage drop off at all. That way everyone can weigh in.
In regards to the recipe, I think Nether Brick is just common enough for people to want to actually use it, and just expensive enough for inexperienced players to have another goal to reach the Nether. Honestly, I've seen new players go months without even giving the Nether a single thought, because they were afraid and had no real reason, and I think this might open the door for them. So, I'm changing the recipe to Nether Brick. Or, maybe Nether Wart, which you can now grow in the overworld. I'll make a poll for that too...
I'm not too sure about a one shot musket, but I'm not disagreeing with you guys. I'm only thinking of the way the musket will attract mobs, rendering the musket useless at night unless it uses more than one shot. Or I could rework the way it is reloaded... what do you guys think?
Edit: I'm just going to rework it, and you everyone here can tell me what they think...
Why not have the reloading as you have to right click again after firing to reload it, and have the reloading as 5 seconds long.
If Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter were shut down at the same time 90% of teens would freak out on the spot. If you're that 10% that is laughing at them put this in your signature!

I support all of these wonderful ideas click on them to take you to the forum posts!
What about an arquebus? It would be more balanced then a musket anyways. Not to mention when you say 16th Century (1500s) you most likely are talking about an arquebus. Muskets were around in the 1500s, but they were used as support for Arquebusers.
An arquebus differs from the musket in a few regards:
-It was heavier than a musket, making it bulky to wield
-Lacked a stock, making aiming a chore
-Were unable to be fired in the rain
-Fired a bigger bullet (finally a pro!)
It is also an interesting choice since not many people know about aquebuses.
Hopefully if we do get guns, we can do line battles a la Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars. (The arquebus becoming a weapon requiring team use to be effect instead of a rambo weapon)
Notice how they line up to cordinate fire. Fire arms of the day were not built for effective solo use. If you wanted to specialise as a marksman, you got a team together.
Muskets/Arquebuses are horridly inaccurate.
Edit: Might make my own thread about Arquebuses. A weapon like this could reinvent PvP if implemented right. We don't want it to be Bow +1

I think that the fireball should be downright removed from the recipe. It's too expensive for an ammo that's used multiple times.

Give me one good reason why this would ruin factions and PVP, rather than making it better.
