The new lapis lazuli is ridiculously rare, and has only two uses, one of them only a tiny bit useful. Here are a few ideas that might make lapis lazuli more useful.
-Make it less rare obviously :biggrin.gif:
-If you craft the lapis it will then become lapis powder ( you get 16 powder per lapis ore).
-When you smelt lapis powder you get lapis ingots.
-Lapis powder could be used in a new special circuitry that can be connected with redstone.
-Lapis ingots can be used in new tools, items or mechanical blocks. Could also be crafted into a more solid colored block.
-Maybe the graphic of the ore block itself could be changed, doesn't fit in like most ores, just a suggestion to make it look better.
If notch does add something like this to a future update i will be very happy :smile.gif:
No.
Lapis WILL most likely get more cool uses, but isn't dyeing wool good enough for 2 weeks?
Come on.
Dyeing wool is kind of useless and personally I wouldn't go through such hard work to get blue dye.
As for new wires. Maybe Lapis Lazuli wires could go up walls and such? Redstone wires can't do that, and it'd make them be more worthwhile looking for.

Is it really that rare? I'd say right now it is slightly more common than diamond. (coming from a lucky guy who got over 20 in 2 hours + 15 diamonds) I mean.. i king of like the rarity. It goes in with pumpkins, diamonds, and gold as a showoffy sign of royal mining awesomeness to show off in smp.

Actually 9 lapis lazuli makes a lapis lazuli block already.
Lapis lazuli is arelatively rare semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense blue color.
Its a gemstone, so it is rare.
Because Minecraft is known for staying true to reality.
But I think it would be nicer if there were maybe a less intense blue color we could use as dye. All I want is some blue, and I have to mine for days to get it. Most server mods will just spawn it for people, so I guess it doesn't matter so much. But agreed, it's a game, and the updates only been out for a little while. We'll deal.
It doesn't conduct electricity or something like that , seriously sometimes you should learn from geology and the properties of some things. Ufff :sad.gif: how so most people aren't that informed
Not to make you eat your words but then how come redstone conducts electricity? I would understand if redstone was actually copper but it isn't and makes any realistic argument about "geology" completely moot.

<stuff I'm not addressing>
While I do agree that Minecraft goes out on a limb in the reality department, it does stick to reality as to ores.. Mostly.. Gold is rare and almost useless, diamond is rarer and very durable in tools (although.. Yeah, diamond tools are unrealistic.) It's a close call, but I'm going with keeping it rare for the sake of realism.

I realized I was god when I tried praying and found I was talking to myself.
I remember this post from a while back on a way to add another type of wiring to minecraft. He called it greenstone, but if it were lapis lazuli that would work too.
i always thought clothes with little armour value would be useful for wool and naybe other decoratoins (furniture) but Lapis Lazuli should naybe have a redstone relation.
It could have magical properties and be used for swimming related armor. e.g. more air for when you're underwater, faster swim speed, something that makes it so you can see better while underwater, etc.
i havent found any yet D: but new wiring (if its made) shouldnt join in with redstone i think maybe craftring lapis and redstone wrer make a cross section?

Yeah, I agree, we just got the update, everyone GTFO of the suggestions forum and stop trying to make the game bette [/sarcasm]

I'm quite the shady customer.

Anyways, like this suggestion for the bluestone wire.
I guess.
