This idea has been floating around for a while, so after looking to see if this was done or not, I took the time to compile the suggestions I've heard and my own thoughts.
The Nether is a place of danger and of great wealth (especially once you find the Nether Stronghold). However, due to the lack of minerals such as iron and diamonds, it is impossible to stay in the Nether for a long length of time. Introducing Nether tools:
It's not about being a jerk... It's about expressing your opinions towards a suggestion. You need to open up your eyes and take a look at the bigger picture.
It's barely an effective opinion. It's just a simple 2 sentences.
Ehh, I don't support. This is a cheap upgrade from iron, and netherrakk is way to plentiful.

My Avatar is a Dalek, therefor your argument is... EXTERMINATED!!!
You know who can tell me something I already know? Me. All the time. I'm really good at telling me stuff I already know. I don't need help in that department. I don't know about others, but I can't imagine I'm alone here.
You need diamonds to mine obsidian and go to the Nether so why would you go there for something worse than what is required to obtain it? Also, they won't be adding any more tiers.
Everybody is bringing up valid points. The reason for the tools is what I stated before. Even diamond tools wear out. I've ran out of tools while in the nether before. The idea wasn't to go to the nether to obtain a tool better than diamonds, but rather to provide a source for tools in case you ran out while in the nether.
Also, blaze rods are not found everywhere in the nether. Most worlds only spawn with one nether fortress, so locating it can be difficult. In my experience by the time you obtain blaze rods, your diamond tools are nearly broken.
Overall, I appreciate the constructive feedback. Gives me something to think about.

There's an "infinite" number of fortresses in a world... see for yourself... no idea why you think there is only one, I've found multiple fortresses myself.
Also, how many people are really going to spend that much time in the Nether? A diamond pickaxe with Unbreaking III has over 6,000 uses; a stack of diamonds is good for 131,000 uses, which is a LOT of blocks mined. The Nether also isn't supposed to be a place you can live in (press F3 and check the biome you are in, how many people really want to live in such a place?).
I feel like these tools aren't really that useful, blaze rods as handles and nether bricks for tools that aren't even that good? These tools aren't useful, just expensive. I think maybe the sword should have an ability that sets mobs on fire, pickaxe auto smelts ores when you mine them, hoe has a 2x2 radius. Can't really think of anything special for the axe or the shovel but I really think there should be something special for these tools if they use blaze rods and only have 300 durability. Half Support
Also, at least change the speed text, for sword and hoe, there's no speed and for the axe and the shovel it says between iron and diamond pickaxe speeds. That's all I have to say.

A point of the nether is to not be able to survive in there without the overworld. You go in without a flint and your portal goes out? Tough. You go in and your tools break? Tough.
This would make the nether more... habitabable, which is not what it is supposed to be.
hmm more tools.. Been awhile (correct me if I'm wrong) but I think we can have more tools. If you look at it we get more blocks ,and never any tools. I don't see what'll hurt about Nether Tools..
Question : What about it's power? How strong will it be?

3.if you want this to get big add some cool mobs like a boos and it drops the compacted neather stuff
its a good idea but its too small try to add more stuff

My best suggestion:
Mobs actually being varied???
Really, I wouldn't want a tier made out of something you can find everywhere in the Nether. These are very unnecessary.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

You don't need diamonds to get into the nether...
This mimics plugins that add superpickaxes that dig 3x3.
I'm pretty sure I've dug 131,500 blocks and I can tell you: After the first 131,500 blocks, it gets a bit tiresome to dig the next 131,500 blocks.
I'm looking for upgrades that speed up the game play "slightly".
I'm increasingly drawn to creative mode for building things.
However-- there are many many things that should be fixed first (including the API). So no support for now.

True, but you need diamonds to mine obsidian.
Question : What about it's power? How strong will it be?
You need obsidian to create a Nether portal which can only be mined by diamonds unless you find a blacksmith in a village with 10 Obsidian.
You only need 3 iron for a bucket and an lava lake.
That's how you get Obsidian. But to actually get it you need a diamond pickaxe.
