I haven't seen any recent thirst posts so I am suggesting and bringing it up again. Thirst should be added because it would give a use to water bottles beacuse currently you all they are used for are potions.
Different types of water: water can be bad for you depending on were you get it from. If you get a bottle of ocean water it will give you hunger and poison when you drink it For 10 seconds. If you drink swamp water you will get hunger and nausea. drinking water from caves is perfectly fine. Getting water from waterfalls or mountains is the best you can get and should stock up on that. Getting water from a random pond has a 50% chance to give you nausea For 10 seconds. Drinking potions can also give you saturation but not as much. Drinking from desert pools will be sandy and give you nausea for 5 seconds
purifying water: if you have no fresh water you can make a cauldron and put fire under it to heat it then place the water in it to boil it. You can test if it's good by taking some out and seeing the status. The different statuses could be BAD, OK, PURE. bad gives same effects as ocean water, ok gives same effects as swamp water and pure is obviously purified. Once the water is done you can't drink right away cause it could burn you badly! (Don't drink boiled water kids) you must wait a little while like maybe like a minute after it's been taken out and your good to go.
More bottles: you could get flasks and canteens that can hold more water. To craft a flask you just surround a bottle with leather and it can hold 2 bottles worth of water. You craft a canteen by surrounding a flask with leather and 3 iron across the top and can hold 3 nottles worth of water. Bottomless canteen. put an ender pearl under it and 2 iron next to it. It can hold 5 bottles worth of water!
how thirst works: thirst would be just like a hunger bar and would degrade just as fast. One bottle of water will heal 3 thirst bars out of 10. Being in hot climates such as deserts or mesa biomes will have your thirst go down faster. You can also drink right from ponds without water however it only heals 1/4 of a thirst bar and you can't drink as fast.
so what do you think. Tell me in the comment section below. I did work quite hard on this thread so if you do find a RECENT post on thirst can you atleast tell me what you think first

Yes. cause I totally spread gold bars on my toast...
Even though this is unique to the hundreds of other thirst suggestions out there, thirst really isn't something that I would want to deal with in the game. It's just a burden and this would make trekking through a large desert incredibly difficult.

Thank you off your opinion. About the desert trekking tho you could get some canteens just like you pack food

I like the idea, thirst is something that could make the game more challenging, but I don't want it to be like hunger, every time I jump I lose my whole hunger bar. If it were the same with water, it would be terrible, but it's a nice idea!

While this is usually the case, this thread has enough detail and differences from other thirst threads I have seen that it can stay.

Ok
my idea is just cause they have water, why not thirst.
That is called "Micromanagement". We already have hunger, which I hate, so adding this, especially for the reason of "Why not?", is just adding complexity for the sake of complexity, which is never a good design choice.
No support, and just because there haven't been any "recent thirst posts" isn't a justification to bring up such a redundant topic. It may be different from other thirst suggestions, but I don't think it would benefit the game too much. So many people hate hunger already.
A thirst bar would eb highly unpractical. Where you would constantly dry out to death in teh ebginning, you can easily abuse a single source block later in the game. Since these never dry out from using bottles.
It's a flawed idea, and it will always be a flawed idea.
No support.
Ok I understand everyone else but this... I said you can drink right from ponds it just doesent give as much and you try drinking an entire ocean by yourself.
And there are many creative minds out there. Saying it will always be a flawed idea isent right

Point is is that people already were pissed about hunger being added to the game, because they had to manage their food. Adding thirst would give a lot of resistance and more stuff to manage. Also, cauldrons are made of iron, and at the start of the game you might not have that much iron.
We'll you would only need 3 glass and a nice water pool. And if hour thirst was going down you could drink right from the pond.

This reasoning doesn't exactly talk up the suggestion. Water bottles are the very base of the most powerful, helpful potions. Them having one use doesn't automatically mean "they need another so this can exist!"

How is drinking water from a dirty cave completely safe?

That would be a complete of waste of time. You're better off just toughing it through and drinking bad water that gives you just a few seconds of bad potions effects, rather than boiling this water and waiting a minute beforehand just to dodge some 10 second effects.

Fair enough, all of that sounds handy.

It all (mostly) makes sense, but thirst is still a second hunger bar that players have to keep managing and thinking about. One hunger bar is enough. Adding thirst just forces more management that never had to be there in the first place - so the overall benefit would be not having thirst. So no support.
No support. The hunger bar is enough already, and if there was thirst it would just feel like too much to worry about. It would seem like a chore rather than a challenge to keep up with.

Eh, so be it.
This is the same as all other "thirst" suggestions.
