I just was messing around and found a really cool world that I`d love to do a video on for the seed so people can play that world but I just randomly spawned in a new world on my server and I got no clue how to check the seed, When I hit F3 it says 0 but its wrong,Do I check the server log or what.
This is something I've been wondering about as well.
As part of the new update Minecraft now displays all SMP seeds as "0" to prevent people from copying multiplayer worlds if the server host did not want them to.
The thing is, you can't really view it, even if you are the host. I have yet to check, but I think there should be some way to display the seed either from the server executable or from the world file.
Will check and re-post if I find anything, though.
Edit: Just checked, none of the files in the world data give me any seed data (but I'm pretty sure that was obvious anyways) and there is no command to display the seed in the server executable. So, I guess you're out of luck, unless you want to copy your world over into your singleplayer saves folder and just view the seed from there, which is an option, albeit a rather annoying one.
As mentioned before, you can no longer see the SMP seed in the F3 info screen. It'll just display as zero.
However, you can see the world's seed if you load your world file (level.dat) in the third-party program AMIDST. You can find more info and the download link in this forum thread: http://www.minecraft...ome-ect-finder/. Worked like a charm for me.

No, a server for me and my friend is seed 0. And I know it because there is all of these vertical straight down cliffs that symbol the end off the world.
when you first generate a world it should say something like "Generating 'world' with seed 834745(this is a random seed)" not the "this is a random seed part". it should be in the server log
I think you can by dragging your server world folder to your single player "saves" folder, then press f3 in single player mode. Basically, you just open your multiplayer world in single player mode. Hope it helps.
Kinds of necro posting I suppose but if you want to find what your multiplayer world seed is if you are the server host just look at the server console window where it says "preparing start region" it will have the Seed right next to it when you start or restart your server. If you're looking at a rented server it will be in the Server log.
I am the author of World Downloader for 1.2.4, 1.2.5, 1.3.1 and 1.3.2. It does not have any capability to save SMP seeds. It's never sent by the server to the client.
All help is much appreciated =)
There has to be a way?

but this method cannot work if you are not admin of the server, right?
