I'm not sure if there's a thread exactly like this already but here goes. This thread is here to bring up seeds that spawn you in, near, or around(?) snow. just follow my lead in the description.
Seed: Reverie
Landscape: Spawns you right in the middle of a snowy forest of pine trees, and maybe near a frozen beach. Moderately flat with a few hills, and maybe mountains. There are incredible deep pits that lead to caverns. I haven't explored these yet so you'll have to do that on your own.
Seed: Holy
Landscape: Spawns you on a frozen beach near a pine forest. (only tried it twice and that's where i spawned both times) There are tall hills and small mountains (yes there is a difference) that you can climb and such. I had played on this world a while and even made a giant snowman :tongue.gif: If you spawned in the same place as me, then there should be a giant pit below three caves (one has an opening that's only two blocks big o_o). It leads into a massive maze of caverns with tons of ores and mobs. other than the deep pit, it's basically Alaska in Minecraft.
I'd leave some pics but i'm having trouble with that, so just try them for yourselves
Please leave your seeds and please try to leave only snowy seeds.

facebooking (v) - like repeating facepalms, but with more *thud* in them.
Seed: BloodySoap
Description: Spawns you in a HUGE snow biome. There are some medium sized mountains around and some dense pine forests along with a large amount of frozen lakes! I'm pretty sure this is the largest snow biome I've ever seen in Minecraft. It just goes on and on and on. There are a few tiny grass biomes inside of it but they are small and the snow biome just goes around it and continues on!

To be honest, I have only had a handful of seeds from a large list of them work. Glad htis one did.
Hey there, I'm new to Minecraft, and have been looking for a entire Snow map. Holy seems to be pretty cool. I started a cabin in the middle of a cluster of trees a few hundred blocks from that huge pit described. Looking forward to getting lost in those mines.
I had a question though. Are there any seeds that are near 90% only snow? I notice if I continue on in one direction for a long time, the snow becomes large expanses of grass lands, desert lands, or huge lakes and oceans.
Also, I was wondering if snowfall or any weather will return. I'd like to have random snow storms, but at the same time bioms that stay the same through all seasons. FOr example, snow won't melt, unless fire or other events cause it too.
I'm also wondering if there is a tool that allows you to get a map overlay of the entire surface environment.
Sorry for all the questions, just new and curious.
So I learned about this cartograph program, and started exploring in one direction on the Cryo map.
Turns out even after about 5 minutes in that direction, continuing for about 15 minutes, it's all grasslands.
Im going to test the other directions as well, but this pretty much concludes there is probably no map truelly just a snow biom.
Not for a long bit actually. If you manage to find a world that someone has available that was generated before the biomes, then it can be massively snow covered, but you don't have any new ores, trees, etc until you start generating new chunks, which will also start risking non-snow biomes. Sucks because I want an artic map only =/
Edit: I used a seed "557254009" and spawned in a snow biome, and there is actually a zombie spawner right nearby... -11, 68, -72 lol
Edit2: turns out I messed up and didn't use the seed I thought I did... The string of numbers is right though.

Welcome to Minecraft! One thing to wrap your head around is that all maps are infinite; the more you explore in a certain direction, the more map gets generated. So no map will be "90% snow", since "90% of infinity" is not possible (all maps have varying biomes/terrain at some distance).
Any map after a certain distance will fade into different biomes. I'm guessing you'd like just a large snow biome near the spawn point, so how big is big enough for you? You mentioned in another post that when the snow ended after 5 minutes of walking, that wasn't enough, though that's still a fairly large area. How big of an area are you looking for? 1000x1000 blocks? 10,000x10,000 blocks?

Thanks for the info Midnight Lightning, I was wondering about the possibility of a continous generated world.
Guess that means you can continue on for as long as you want until you find the perfect spot. Problem is with spawn points though. I guess the seed is a way of getting your spawn close to the area you like.

Once 1.4 comes out, sleeping in a bed and waking at dawn (note, if your woken by skellies and such, this won't work) will change your spawn point to that bed from what I've read on twitter and the 1.4 patch notes thread
Ok but after you input the seed for the leel generation how do you ensure that you spawn in the same place? this doesnt work for me as i always spawn in some other place miles from the area talked about
A warning, I got confused at first also, because it didn't spawn in a snow area. But, after some exploring, I found a nice mix of plains, hills, mountains, and forest areas all in a snow biom.
p.s. Creepers annoy me even more now because the new 1.4 bed spawn doesnt work. Instead you spawn in radom locations. Hope this fixes soon!
In fact the XYZ is 41, 88, 91 where I started a log cabin. Youll see a small lava pool down the hill near a mountain, if your in the right spot. I liked it because it had a lot of variety of scenery around it.

Minecraft always needs you to spawn on sand to start with (beds change that, but we'll ignore that for level generation). If the block at (0,0) is sand, then everyone who generates the level spawns right there. If that origin block is not sand, a nearby location is picked that is sand at random. And that picking of a spawn point varies from person to person, computer to computer, world to world. So, if you get a bad spawn point, delete the world and generate it again, and you'll get another spawn point.

I couldn't find an end to the snow on my run through it
btw...
the cake is a lie
epic seed for a very snowy area. (seeds are case sensitive just in case you're wondering.)
Check out my Homestuck OC and ask him a question, or tell him to do something in his intro! If you have an OC, I'm looking for roleplay partners!
Ironically enough, this is the largests snow biome I've ever seen! :tongue.gif:
Die creeper die!
Not only spawns you in the middle of a large snow area, it's an absolute spawn... not sure of any effects on creepers... use at your own risk!!
