Thanks for the post, I was just planning an desert oasis earlier, and it's close to jungle and mesa and it's almost plaqued with treasure-filled temples. Some small green pasture and tiny woods close to start of with. Green look amazing in sand. Better get an diamondshovel with durability III Efficency III for digging earth early though! I will try it and add info if I like it.

I've been thinking, since I started using amidst "the unknown" in minecraft have kind of gone and some magic with it (I can't remember what getting lost felt like, lol), and now I can't resist looking it up. Amidst is a bit like pressing peaceful if your learning to swim in lava.

I've retired from Minecraft. Life is so much more worth enjoying without tryhing to find meaning in squares that last De Facto forever.
Worthy replacements that are more entertaining: Factorio if you like redstone. Subnautica. No Man's Sky. Stranded Deep. Raft. Rising World is probably the most worthy Minecraft-clone, that is totally realistic and let you build beauty. The Forest. Mist Survival. Subsistence, Rust Survival if you are that kind of person.
RPG: The Witcher 3. Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Mount & Blade Warband (Bannerlord)
Other Managment Games: City Skylines, Banished, Dawn of Man, Foundation, Prisoner Architect. Dawn of Man.
More City-Builders. Survival. Managment. Etc. Coming

I spawned in an amazing savanna-hills peaked area that would be great for a base in itself due to it's naturalcomplexly calculated beauty. I walked to x0,z0 and stood exactly at the edge of an almost ready-made oasis. It's visible iron (some is in the water) next to the ones on land, and coal. So I had torches before heading into a nearby cave with sand-roof, dragged along some bad monsters and poked on the roof. Food is a bit far off, but within 100-200 blocks from zero you find all farm animal. Seedhunting combined with chickenfeeding was fun, so I dragged them home. Have to get cows too. Sheep is only on the hills it seem.
The shore on 0,0 is the edge of the little sea where about 10 biomes is available by boat, monster-free travel by night. I'd upload screenshots if I could just do it from the harddrive. Maybe later, if my plan have any future.

Just drag them from your file manager over the green "Upload an Image" button at the bottom of the post you're writing or editing and drop them in the "Drop image to upload" box that opens up.

Thanks (!), adding pictures of my first view of spawn and the Oasis-like feature I noticed there.
Edit: Uhm? Do you see any pictures? I tried the upload an Image button too, but I got a msg: "The file provided is too large. Please provide a file less than 1 GB." in reply to a file at 2.6 MB...

That error is misleading, as you noticed.
I quite literally just noticed that there is a Mesa biome to the east of spawn.
That is a pretty big desert. Imagine playing it on large biomes mode, lol
EDIT: Ran it through Amidst in large biome mode:
lol
