When i say "we" i mean the command block community.
Now, let me explain myself. I have made some simple one command block creations in the past, and i found that writing the long command is very frustrating. It took me at least an hour for the simple creation i wanted to make.
So when structure blocks came out, i thought "This is perfect for this stuff!" and that the whole command block community would start making alot of "structure block creations" very fast. For some reason that didn't happen, i don't know why.
Downloading a structure is as simple as downloading a map. Just put it in the file and activate in game.
So tell me, do you think that we, the community, should start using structure blocks instead?
I switched over instantly, structure blocks save me hours of work and I thought they were a miracle. I had been waiting for something like them for ages.
I believe not that many people know to use them because they don't actually know they exist. A couple of days ago I put a structure block down in a 1.11 world while skyping some people and they went "What is that block?!"
The only con of them is that they place all the blocks at once, so if you have two command lines, and your command relies on one running after the other (because you placed repeating command block "B" after you placed "A") then you're in for a surprise when that no longer works when moved to another world. To fix this I just have a "Start" sign that triggers a line of commands when clicked, that adds all the needed scoreboard information and turns on commands in a certain order.
Besides that, I love structure blocks because they can fit hundreds more command blocks than using the "only one command" method which is much more limited.
With small commands, one-command is definitely easier to use, but with huge command mod pack or any super complicated long command, structure blocks really seems easier, I think. Structure blocks are meant for devs to use and probably players who wants to share somewhat limited structures, not exactly for command mods.
I've never taken hours to write a one command creation. Most of the time when I would create a command block mechanism, I wrote the whole thing in gedit (essentially notepad for you windows users) and then individually copy and pasted them into the command blocks. With any one command creator all I have to do is copy and paste all my commands into the generator and press a button. If you are writing one command block contraptions by hand, that is your problem. Not one commands themselves, but the means of which you create them.
Structure blocks make malicious attacks with virii much easier for bad people to infect your computer and possibly steal your personal info/accounts/money. Copy and pasting a command or two into a game does not.
Personally, yes. There are some things you can't make w/ structure blocks. With the default loading block you can only make naturally generated things. But, using a corner and a save block, you can save a build in a structure block and then put it somewhere else, thus being able to modify the same structure but still keeping the original.
In my experience using a one command system has been bad for my server. They just aren't made to run efficiently and caused a lot of problems, including crashes. With structure blocks you could make the system run smoothly by breaking it up into the pieces that need to run when needed and only when needed. So yes structure block should replace the one command fad.

A one command contraption doesn't need to be efficient, even though it can be created with efficiency in mind, it is only run as an initial setup. Usually this will be done when no one else is really around anyway. Once the mechanism is installed, it will run as efficiently as the mechanism was designed to be. Using a structure block to install a mechanism provides the exact same end result once the setup is completed. I honestly, haven't used many of either, but if a one command contraption is crashing upon setup, there is probably a problem with the command itself, not the entire system that allows one commands to work.

I wasn't talking about the initial setup of the system, I was referring to the system itself. The systems aren't made to be efficient, just to work. These systems also aren't made to be able to access every block in it. So if you need to make a few tweaks you gotta take it totally apart and hope you put it back together right. Yeah I'm sure that they could be made to work better and be more accessible but the fact of the matter is that they aren't. Another issue of these are that you don't know for sure how it will place itself until you place it. This can destroy other systems you may have. With the structure blocks you are able to see the outline and make sure you don't break anything before adding it. This is my opinion, and it wasn't made in ignorance, structure blocks are better suited for this
First: A structure file is definitely not just as easy to use. I mean, I can copy the whole CB command, open the CB interface, past it in and I'm done. For a structure file to become useful I'd need to place it in a specific area. How many players will know exactly what their world save folder is called?
Second: Size limitations. 32x32x32 making it quite a hassle the very moment you're working on something bigger. And there's also speed to take into consideration: loading/saving is per definition (somewhat) slower than using commands and generating stuff.
well yes the copy paste method is very simple but do you know just how tedious it is to turn a command block creation into a one command paste?
and for your second yes the size limitation is an issue but as long as you stick to that limit (Which i think all command block creations have done so far) you are golden and also COMMAND BLOCKS are slower because they have to summon the key components then summon the falling command blocks as well as set up the area so it works properly instead being broken up into chunks where as structure blocks just place the entire structure right there as fast as your computer can handle and besides if people don't know how to do it just include a tutorial with screenshots

I don't understand how modifing the save file is harder than spending hours writing a command.
It's actually the difference in copy&pasting text directly
and downloading a file and open it.
Tbh, yes. Structure block CAN fully replace one command.
But maybe one command looks more "professional"...
Also, structure block is quite "new" compare to one command,
ppl might need time to adapt.

Guess structure blocks work best when your "one command" is
very complicated.
Or you can simply use the structure file to import multiple "one commands",
you know, for simplicity.

You are thinking this too far...
Also, one command generators are not as flexible as hand-written one command.
Although I do agree that one command generators are faster cuz it's syntax-bug-free...
