Seeing as how we now have a redstone forum and my old thread was buried in the survival section, I thought to revive it:
A while back I got the idea to design a floor light that could be turned on/off from 1 switch. So, with little prior skill or knowledge of redstone, I decided to try for it. I suceeded thanks to pistons, though it's hardly efficient resource-wise. It's largely a waste, but it works.
I turned it into a cieling light for the video so that I could show the workings of it without having to build and dismantle an entire room.
I also made a tutorial for any who wish to make one:
There's a better way... Cheaper and without the gap between the changes... Just have the glowstone next to a sticky piston, such that it's over the hole when the piston is retracted, then extending the piston turns off the light...
Well, you would probably need to encase the whole thing but it's still more efficient...

The problem with that is the piston arm doesn't block light. T-T

Nono, he meant, to encase it just so daylight wouldn't come in.
But the glowstone'd still give a bit of light then, so your idea is about the best way to go, I think. Good work! It's so simple, yet I wouldn't have thought of it myself!
In my maps i make a 1x2x3 hole and placed one glowstone in the top, and a piston with stone on it. When the lever is pressed the light comes on and when it's off the pistons block off the light completely :smile.gif:
