I'm creating a redstone sorting system using hoppers and custom named gold nuggets to sort which items goes to whom's mailbox.
In theory, my system works like this:
Name a golden nugget with the person you want to send it to via Anvil
Place nugget as first item in chest and anything you want to send in the chest after it.
Pull the lever that deactivates the redstone next to hopper. This will flush all the items into the sorting system at once.
Sorting system checks for the Name of the custom nugget on 2nd layer of hoppers
Items that are NOT the nugget flow down from the 2nd layer to the third layer for sorting again. (This is where the mail gets sent ; all hoppers will not take any items in 4th layer except for the disabled redstone hopper)
Signal stays off until all items are added into the recipient's chest.
Once all items are added, the system repeats.
Lever is pulled again to put a hold on the chest for next mail.
Wondering if you are seeing any flaws in this. I'm basically using the concept of a typical item chest sorter, but having it go through 2 filters. One to find out who it belongs to, and the second to move those items into their chest.
I have figured out the Flush system (Item hold / mail send ) and how to get the items in the chest (item elevator)
What i need help with is the following:
Custom named items don't always stack unless you make them all at once. Is there a better system for this?
How can i hold the redstone signal to allow items to go through the second filter to the right chest owner & keep the first layer from breaking?
Make a tileable dual filtering system. Fit 10 of these in a small space.
Hopefully this makes sense. To make it short, I'm allowing ANY item to be sent through hoppers, but i need to filter which person it belongs to through 1 chest.
Looking forward to your replies! If you help me with this I will give you credit in my showcase video for helping with the redstone.
I have a photo of current progress. The empty space is where the filter system is going through. I am 75% of the way there getting this system functional. Thanks for your help!
Sethbling already did a video on this, you could watch his video to see how he did or ask him, he said it was survival friendly, but not resource friendly
