Try the entitydata command describbed before along with:
/scoreboard objectives add time dummy
put these on a 20hz clock
/scoreboard players add @e[type=Item] time 1
/tp @e[type=Item,score_time=5] @p
you could also use the age tag without the scoreboard but the system described above orevents the system from failing due to skipped ticks or latency issues. Im also pretty sure there is an "owner" tag for items but I don't know the syntax or if it supports player selectors, I would guess not.
there are tons of other ways to get this system to work depending on the lag your map will create, the specific workarounds for your map, and other factors. I can provide other suggestions if you need more help.

I just thought of something really cool, I haven't tested it yet.
If you just connect a very fast clock (like a fill clock) to this command:
/entitydata @e[type=Item] {PickupDelay:0}
Then the item is instantly picked up again by the player that dropped it.
I'm going to test it right now.
I've been wondering this for a while now, since I don't want people to accidentally drop quest-related items into lava or something similar, but still be able to lose unnecessary items. It's nice to see that someone knows how to fix this.

Don't be surprised if one day I take over the front page of the Forum Games, and then disappear for months at a time. It happens.
Is it possible?

Not working for me
*sarcastic comment*
*disapproving look*
I found little problems with this method like:
Falling very fast, pointing up, and dropping will separe you from the dropped item.
Another person (or a Zombie) will grab the item instantly
Thanks again

I was going to put a list of words of wisdom here, but I think I'll put this here instead
