In 12w37a, Dinnerbone added a new hidden feature. You can customize head blocks to look like the heads of specified players. (You can find a thread about it here)
I followed instructions on how to do it, but I can't get it to work. Can someone please give me step by step instructions (maybe even with pictures)? I would really appreciate it.
Edit: Nevermind. Knochenbowser helped me out with it.
uh, can you actually say how to get the other heads? other people are wondering too...

I can't post on your thread, so I willl send you how to change the mobhead skin here:
Put a mob head in your inventory and close minecraft. Then open NBTedit and open the level.dat file of the world where you put the mob head in the inventory.
Go to the player section and look for the inventory slots, it mostly says "4 Entries" in the slot compounds, when you found the compound where the mob head is in (the ID of it is 397) add a new compound to that slot called "tag" and in there, add a new string called "SkullOwner". then you press the little button where a pencil can be seen and write the correct minecraft username (capitals must be right!)
Hope I could help you
This is possibly one of the most epic features ever added.
I'll have to add the heads of every member on my server to my house. In fact, every person I have ever met will have their head in my gallery of heads. This way, I'll get a preview of their skin whenever they change it.

They should at least collapse the second layer onto the first, will take some of the definition out, but still be recognisable.
I'm sure that's possible but by doing so you just took an optional feature that probably took dinnerbone a matter of minutes to add (and probably only was added just because it was so easy) and made it a much bigger project. Basically all it's doing now is accessing the skin server. To actually get the hat layer and merge the two would be more involved (how much so I'm not sure).

If someone gets someone elses head, and then the person they got the head of changes their skin, does the head change?
It changes once you log out of Minecraft and log back in.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
