("Resource packs"

Great idea. Maybe who knows if they want to add a Flan's mod like thing in a custom map with sounds, too! And you can have custom ambiences with that, too!

And also, KingzofDawn, that doesn't contribute to the topic. You were referencing to TNT right?

I can already imagine "Lord of the Rings" resource packs with zombies being orcs and witches being wizards.
Creepers just like hanging around. Please don't hurt them.

Maybe I could get Xbox's Nether music and have it play in the Nether?

Anyways I would like to change the Nether portal sound. I'l probably want sometihng that has a deeper pitch to ut.

You mean I can FINALLY change the sound of rain to something that doesn't sound like static without removing the sound altogether?

    Sweeeeet.
Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?‚Äč

Also people could then make custom ''noteblock packs'' for different instruments or kinds of music :)
I hate it when people post their computer parts in their signatures, like their bragging "Oh I have a fancy 1000$ computer that I built myself". No passerby is gonna care what computer you have.

Is it going to be the further up the list the more priority (sort of like modding of how its order affects the why mods work) (If anybody has an jail-broken iDevice and uses WinterBoard you would know what I mean)

Ha, WinterBoard. Beats the crap out of SummerBoard anyday.
But this would actually make sense. Basically the top item replaces as much as it can, and then the following items replace whatever is left, and so on.

...but that's just like, my opinion, man.

I suggested resource packs back in 1.7.3/1.8, so seeing them add this makes me really happy :D

WinterBoard and SummerBoard are still better then SpringBoard
I wonder if Mojang will add this?

also, there is 1 more feature i have not heard mentioned yet in this thread. You will also be able to change
the end credits (After you beat the dragon and hop through the portal) using resource packs.

Sweet, I can get epic battle music for my boss fights, replace the Villager noises and the player hurt animation with noises from ElementAnimation and make the Ender Dragon and Wither sound epic. Loving this :D

The Resource pack system is an upcoming API replacement for texture packs and is a way for players to further customize their Minecraft experience.Resource packs will also allow players to customize music, sounds, lang files, end creditsand fonts without any code modification.Ultimately, every mod/plugin will be its own resource pack, vanilla will be a resource pack by itself, and users will be able to apply multiple resource packs at once.Unfortunately, this means that all current texture packs will break...They will be working on another unstitcher-like tool to aid with the conversion, and hopefully this will be the last major breakage to texture/resource packs in the foreseeable future. We're also including a new metadata format so that we (and mods/plugins) can easily include whole new types of resources with very minimal difficulty and The new format will allow us to more easily detect out of date packs and possibly even load them as if they were up to date.

Sounds awesome. I better learn how to code before the API comes, I have some ideas for a cool mod.

The resource packs are just the ability to change the sounds in the game without needing audio mod.

False. That is only one of the features.

    Sweeeeet.

Not to mention the other lag inducing sounds such as endermen stare, fire, flowing water and lava sounds. Oh, and I am definitely replacing the hideous sounds such as the broken cows, slushy sand and pathetic explosions.

I replaced the sound of a bow firing with that of an Rocket propelled grenade. And I replaced the sound of a bow landing with an explosion sound. It was wierd but awsome, I still changed it back though.

So is the resource packs format in one folder like the texture packs were? Or different folders for different resources eg, textures, sounds plugins (when they come) ?
