I was trying out 1.4.4, and I was walking around in my house and started seeing random torch flames outside my window. I am thinking it's caused by the glass blocks from my skylight, and they have torch's hiting them.I want to know if anyone else has this problem, it would be funny if they had to do a 1.4.5 updateholy updates mojang!1.4.30 that would be the day, Ha Ha!why not use snapshot's they keep + there versionsLOL!Notch needs to talk to Jeb
Crud, when 1.4.0pre first came out I placed a bet on 1.4.4 being the final version number of this series.. Please no 1.4.5!
Seriously though; if we need 1.4.5 then I'm all for it, just sooner than later please. Not another whole week for the 1.4.5pre if it's just for one bug, just do it now..
I can also confirm the torch "floater" bug. I thought it was just my CPU but I'm glad to see that it's a global thing..As of right now, this is my only issue with 1.4.4 I thought I was hallucinating or just over tired or something. It doesn't make the game unplayable but it's a definite nuisance to it.
yes i have the problem also ;( random torch flames flying around anywhere around places i have torches.... gives me a bad headachesoh and has nothing to do with glass blocks lol.
It got to be so bad in a ravine I was exploring I went back to 1.4.3. I don't care about the swimming against the current bug as I'm usually in a boat around water. I block off most of the streams if not all of them underground or in caves.
Spawning mobs, paintings, and pretty much all entities have been doing this ever since The Merge. Now it's happening with torch particles? Come on, fix this bug already.
Oh, thanks god I found this thread! Minecraft forums are so fragmented that I only found this one by googling the problem!
And thanks god that this was not just me that was getting these flashing floating torch flames all around! At first I thought I was hallucinating! Don't they test the patches before releasing them? Jesus!..
I noticed this same thing I took an image of it, damn they are quick though, I needed to take multiple screenshots to just get this one. It's like Bigfoot. This is in singleplayer btw.
There are a lot of little glitches and bugs I can live with, but this is really annoying. I cant understand why they didnt just skip the 1.4.4 like they did with 1.4.3.
Anyway, I will stay with 1.4.2 until this is fixed...
I just updated from the 1.4.4 prerelease to 1.4.4 release version today (which it offered when I logged in) and the phantom flashes of flames are still there. Maybe it just happens near torches, because I did not notice it roaming around outside. I did hear that it was well known during the pre, so I was surprised it was released that way.
And now everyone is saying LAN-Mode doesn't connect... I absolutely need Lan-Mode. I know they didn't want to do yet another update but I'm still surprised they let all this float. The 1.4.4pre bug list on the wiki has really started to grow. The Lan mode and the torch light problems are something they cannot leave in the game though, they really can't.

Wow, nice shot! The moment I played 1.4.4 I saw the torch bug thing so I thought I might make a new topic... Appearently everyone is getting this bug.
Mojang and minecraft 1.4.x man! at least I know they are trying. thanks guys for replying, I hope they fix it soon I am sticking with 1.4.2 untill it gets fixed.
I could I just remove the torch fire but it would look funny, maybe edit to look like glowsticks, joke ha ha.
they should use snapshots not pre-releases, is it me or they don't debug at all. I guess thats what the everyday user is for, lazy Mojang, at least notch released the fix the next day. Man Harry Potter needs to change Jeb into mini Notch.
Not Java at all it's the java libraries they use are crap, plus out dated. Don't blame Java SE. Loads of GFX bugs are because they keep downgrading the OPEN GL version, and even worse they keep trying to make the game run on crap computers that need to see a landfill or get microsoft windows.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

the 1.4.4 release was the 1.4.4 prerelease. All changes made since that prerelease will be in the next release.
