So I was wondering a lot of people seem to hate the new tarocotta blocks I personly don't mind them because though I will most likely not use them it's just a block and you don't need to use it. Anyway here's a poll
I think that Terracotta blocks are a good thing for map makers. They are a bunch of blocks that are only for aesthetic purposes. This means that people will be able to retexture them for their adventure maps without having to change the textures of "normal" blocks. Think about it; the computer terminals on your spaceship adventure map might not be melon blocks in disguise!

Huh, never thought of using melons...
This thread would have been way more impressive if "terracotta" was correctly spelled.

I like them. Mostly using them for flooring so far; I did a large mosaic-like floor with the light grey terracotta, and some smaller single-color terracotta/matching dyed concrete "rugs"... My next big decorating project (which i'll need when I'm done with the new minecart tunnel i just started digging) will be playing around with more complex patterns for some fancy-rug-type floors in the woodland mansion i'm currently living in. (and i've got some ideas for redoing some of the rooms in my "real" house, once I eventually make it back there...)

I agree

Sorry for my cringy name i don't know how to change it my real name is Cringelord87
It's too easy to make the "don't use them" argument. I think these blocks, despite the map making potential, are a waste of dev effort. Much better things could be made with the time available. There's no reason to be grasping for straws for lackluster updates when there is potential elsewhere.
Personal opinion: sure, keep them. But don't let the update end there.

Ok you have a point i like how they look but it really didn't take much effort I assume just a texture and if the add the feature where they can't be moved by slime blocks but by normal Pistons they'll be a very good addition

I'm curious to know how you came to the conclusion that "a lot of people seem to hate the new "tarocotta"(?) blocks"...
According to your own poll, 80% like them, 17.1% don't care, and a mere 2.9% dislike them...

This forum has made me decide that I now want kids, so that when they get old enough, I can forbid them from coming here. it's a terrible place.
Terracotta doesn't fit Minecraft's feel very well. It's bright, doesn't blend well, and a completely different aesthetic style.
That is exactly why I love it. Mojang, please step outside your comfort zone with aesthetics more. Prismarine, purpur, concrete and now this are starting a nice trend of adding very unique blocks.

I already posted regarding that video but apparently my comment was deleted for some reason.
The only thing I see in that video is a guy who doesn't even know what the update is about, he literally called the "World of Color" update the "Builder's Update", which it is not.
If you were under the impression that it is the "Builder's Update", then sure, I'd be disappointed too. But it isn't the "builder's update" and you'll find people really aren't that disappointed. The guy who made the video even says at one point "I will admit some of the terracotta blocks look nice, cause I still feel like they belong in the game", without clarifying why it is he feels that way. Just because you like/dislike a certain color scheme doesn't make it "belong in the game" or not. I despise pink wool, doesn't mean that wool should be removed from the game... I just don't use the specific colors that irk me.
As far as the comments though, what a surprise that a video which is critical of the blocks would have comments supporting the posters video, probably from his subscribers. Then again, even people in the comments seem to think that the majority like the blocks...

This has always been my fear with the eventual supposed "builder's update"... I fear these blocks won't get enough backlash. I've only seen positive thoughts about them around the Internet so far.
I would say this is a more accurate representation of people's reaction to the blocks.
There are pros and cons.

This terracotta block system is it available for all platforms PC,PE,consoles?
The 16 color variation does it also apply to the glazed terracotta.
Just in the latest 1.12 snapshot for PC. Yes, and glazed terracotta is in all 16 colors, if I'm not mistaken (haven't really played around with it)
I agree

That is unavailable for PE, however PC version is available.

Why the movement of such blocks like slime, opaque is restricted by piston or redstone, sand can be moved also like glass.
Terracotta blocks can be moved like slime blocks . Ender man knows
I'm actually looking forward to the Terracotta Re-Textures. I'm happy to have them and already have ideas for their use.

The BEST way to mine diamond, layer 12 and you.
Yeah, I think they are a good tool for them. Sure, the pink terracotta is horrible for normal use, but think about using it as a directory!

Firstly you call it tarocatta in the title, then you call it tarocotta. Please just call it terracotta
