Snapshots were always such a big mess performance-wise. I get 30FPS no matter what setting I use - everything off/low or on/high and there's no difference at all. People with toasters say they see improvement while I with a middle class PC am sittin on 90% less frames than usual. How do they manage to do that?
I think they figured out 99% of Americans own toasters and so they optimized it for that xD I'm easily getting 100 FPS when my 1.8 average is 5-10 xD
If anything this boosted my performance. On Vanilla 1.8 I would get 70-80 w/out texture packs, and 50ish with. Now I'm getting a steady 60 with whatever I am using.
i already allocated 2 gigs of ram to it (dont have more :D), seems to make no difference except when using an f* ton of command blocks, it reduces the risk of running out of ram, and sudden severe stutter as soon as you run out of ram.
recently, on my friends side, it got better for no apparent reason, it seems to be a computer side issue then.
but still worse than in 1.7 he,d rather stay on 1.7
but on my side it,s just the 1.9 snapshots that are absolute "Schèiße" right now, even though mojang tells us that they made improvements in those snapshots.
shuuuuure mojang. whatever.
I went from 5-10 FPS to over 100 and my monitor framerate is something like 30 or 60 (it's a really old computer and I can't tell the difference between 30 and 100 FPS, tested it by reducing my MaxFPS setting and having F3 open, it dropped from about 100 to about 30 with no noticeable difference). Even after they released a snapshot with a huge performance hit I was still getting 80 FPS on FANCY GRAPHICS.
MY COMPUTER HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO HANDLE FANCY GRAPHICS SINCE 1.3.
I'm happy with the snapshots, and if you aren't, Optifine's coming out soon after the official 1.9.0 release.

VBO's only helps if you have a good graphics card. Integrated Intel Graphics is horrible just to note. What VBO's does is instead of the CPU drawing each line and it tells the graphics card to render it, the CPU does a draw function. E.G. when VBO's is off, the CPU draws every pixel in a block and then tells the graphics card to render the pixels. With VBO's on the CPU tell the graphics card how to draw it.
So VBO's decreases CPU processing amount and increases the graphics card processing amount.
I obviously speak for myself here but finally snapshots 15w39a-c are giving me better performances, actually better than 1.8, on par with what I get with Optifine; stuttering when creating new chunks is still there but I won't complain, my machine is very old after all. Lot of new rendering bugs (such as placed blocks not showing up for a while or light sources stopping at chunk's border), but at least I can see myself updating to 1.9 instead of skipping it; that is, whenever all my mods get updated.[/p]

I have to use VBO's, or else the textures glitch out completely. Before, VBO's would crash the game on my PC when toggled. Now, they don't crash the game on my PC anymore for some odd reason.
well the thing is we are expecting the full release of 1.9.0 within the next week and the reason this is taking so long is probably because they are fully optimizing the game and not only a few months later there will probably be some or other mod like optifine made for 1.9, its kinda obvious otifine wants to have a nice long run before it gets bought out by mojang like horses from mo creatures which was the first mod to be implemented into the game and zhark still gets shoutouts in every version of the game credits be it on websites or even when you beat the enderdragon, whether this will happen to optifine is not for us to say, but it sure would make my life easier
They tried this after Minecraft 1.4 was released. The mod creator refused to help Mojang though, and forbid them from using any of 'his' features in Vanilla Minecraft (a bit weird, as Mojang is free to use content from any mod in their game, according to the EULA)
This, and the release of mods such as fastcraft which may even work better, and the shady (will of the creators violating) capes, and total modpack right refusal, have led to me totally detaching myself from optifine. I will never support that mod and its creators, they have taken a dark and greedy path. And no one can say they haven't, because they rejected an offer that would help 100% of the community just to make profit off of every update they make under an adlfy link and recieving "donations". But if you're already making forced adlfy money you shouldn't even ask for donations.
Hasn't changed a single bit for me as far as the snapshots go. I've been having stable performance throughout. We'll see what it looks like when 1.9 is fully released, i won't judge it by then.
15w45a: between 11-63 with vbos off, 22 41 w/ vbos on
1.8.8: between 8-53 w/ vbos off, and between 29-37 w/ vbos on
seed used for gen test was 99999
settings were
Graphics-fast
render distance-10
3d anaglyph- off
GUIscale-auto
clouds-off
VBOS (whatever that stands for) off
view bobbing- on
use Vsync-on (not having it on can cause glitches)
Max framerate-120
particles- decreased
alternate blocks- on
and entity shadows- off
and yes, all of these factors were important
while I didn't have access to a proper timer when I tested world gen time, so timing is not a precise as I would prefer,(damit, accidentally pressed post) 1.8.8 wins on that aspect however, in the fps round, while going in to the 50,s occasionally, spent more time in the 20s, 30, while 15w45a stayed more in the 40s-50, and occasionally the 60,s
also, my computer is a 2013 ASUS laptop with windows 10 currently being used, and I had Microsoft edge with 2 tabs and skype running in the backround
At least I am not the only one, normally I play 1.8 with shaders to the MAX settingswithout any lag at all (like still getting 50-60 FPS) but only recently till I updated to the newest snapshot I feel like punching my cpu in the motherboard because I am trying to work on a project so it is ready for next year and I want it to use the new 1.9 things like wings and boats and that stuff. Sorry for long paragraph, I get carried away some times
Ever since the newest snapshot came out (somewhere from snapshot 15w45a and so on) I'm starting to get this horrible lag whenever you enter into a world.
Before, it renders buttery smooth, now I'm getting small annoying lag spikes and huge lag at startup.
Is Mojang going to fixing this before they releases it? So here is my specs if you were wondering:D
Asus M32AD
Intel Core I3-4160
12 GB of DDR3 Memory
1TB 7200rpm Hard Drive
EVGA Supernova 550GS PSU
EVGA GTX 960 FTW 4GB
Normal Minecraft Settings and GPU settings:
FXAA- on
MFAA- off
Antialiasing- 4x
Antialiasing transparency- 4x
Minecraft settings- High
rendering distance- 10-11
But the most annoying part is that my sisters old laptop lags really bad!!! Frustratingly BAD!!! About 5-20 frames with the CPU almost hitting near 70-80%, along with really REALLY REALLY bad lag when entering into a world and chunk loading was TERRIBLE and along with lots of lag.
Laptop Specs:
HP G72 Laptop
Intel Pentium P6100
4GB DDR3 Memory
with integrated graphics
375GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
Very unusual:unsure:
Ps: sorry for all these edits i have been doing for one single post
Thanks to Extreme lag in15w51b, I can't defend myself and then I lost my items. Then it got worse and my items despawned, and I got very angry.

4 years ago, I started played MCPE/Minecraft in general. Now, I have MCPC, and I'm still not bored of the blocky sandbox indie. Cuz awesomeness! Got a problem with that?
Hi. I'm new to this forum, trying to help my son get a copy of Minecraft 1.9 (Combat Update). He has seen lots of videos of people playing with 1.9, but we can't find where to download it. Can you help? What is status of 1.9, and where should we go for a download? Thanks! ---LouieTK

Oh, and there was a corruption glitch when there were too many blockstates in a chunk or something like that and they fixed it xD

One of the newest snapshots fixed this issue. It's stated in the change log of one of the 15w38/39 snapshots.
Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.

Check out my website Here!Website is down until further notice. My computer is bad. But 1.9 snapshots work as good as 1.8 on optifine which is pretty good.
