Well it's not all that amazing, now that I think about it I guess my name for it was a bit misleading ... ...
Here's the deal ... say you have a flat surface, with a "wall" block behind it ... like this (the raw wood texture is the "flat surface block") ...
Place a torch here ... on the top of the raw wood block.
T
You'd expect it to stay there, on the raw wood block, right? No, the torch will jump to the side of the topmost block; in our example, to the diamond block. It's a side-torch now. Well, I think it has to be either East or West of the flat surface block for it to work, but you get the idea. And nothing you do, short of removing that side block, will allow you to place the torch. Heck I didn't go through all the iterations ... it's broke, that was enough for me.
This bug isn't that big a deal, of course - just nutty, and again it just makes me wonder how they broke this, and what else might be broken, and finally if anyone even takes these releases for a brief spin before they roll them out? I know this is crowd-sourcing and testing via the vast player-base, yadda ... just, seriously? I noticed this and the chests thing within two minutes ... took me a bit longer with the "can't swim up" thing, but that one is far more serious. And, I mean c'mon, almost 90% of the "Great job, Mojang! Yea, bugfixes! You gotta admit this is awesome!" posts are from people who haven't even downloaded the jar yet, they're basing their opinions on what's in the changelog ... which isn't hurting anyone, I guess. Still.
What? Everyone was saying Mojang is adding too many features and not enough bug fixes.. And now everyone is complaining that this update doesn't have any new features and only bugfixes.. ಠ_ಠ
No, no. Some are doing that, sure, they always do that. It's like clockwork, as are the standard "everyone is complaining, you can't please anyone" rants. But everyone isn't doing that, I'm not and at least some others like me aren't, we couldn't give a rip about new content in what was released yesterday, we're just irritated by these new bugs, particularly the really bad ones, in a supposed bug fix update, for something that is supposed to go live in less than a week ...
Check it: anyone who thinks this reaction to these new bugs is an overreaction should d'load the new jar, put it in the bin folder, crank up Minecraft and load up a favorite, beloved world. Better yet, a hardcore world. Then go swimming for a while, you'll love it ...
/seriously, if anyone doesn't do sarcasm, please don't do that - in fact if you want to try it don't even think about it without backing everything up first, even if you never intend to play the world again ... ya just can't ever tell
Theres a serious bug where u cant swim up when in water, so far this has only hapend on surviv havnt tried on creativ
FIX IT MOJANG...
Yeah... When you are next to a block, you can't swim up. It does it on creative too, but you can fly up as normal.
Also, minecarts crash the game, because they are "ticking entities"
That's all I could find.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
You made it to the end of one of these. You're free now. You don't have to do them ever again.
I hope that they take out bats in 1.4.3
They annoy the nether out of me
I like bats. I doubt mojang will remove bats, which they worked so hard on, just becuase some guy that uses random emoticons too much said they annoy him.
