We all have seen the post entitled "What are some stupid ban/kick/jail reasons you have seen or experienced." I thought it would be fun to turn the table a little bit and ask what are some of the stupidest things that have occurred in public or whitelisted servers that caused you to quit that server on the spot?
I like small, private, whitelisted servers where you can make friends. I once joined a server that had 3 other players on it and it was supposed to be a friendly, no pvp/trolling server. One day I logged in and someone had hid vishrooms all over my house. I took the time to clear them all out and asked nicely if people would not prank my base. The next time I logged in they had hid cicadas all over my base which was even worse. Needless to say, I left the server and didn't come back.
I once quit once when all anyone wanted to do was talk about TF2 and try to get everyone who came on to play with them. I don't play TF2, and I had better things to do than listen to a bunch of losers talk about a game I have no interest in.
I don't have any "Stupid" reasons for leaving a server, but I did abandon my support for a once very big network for:
a.) stealing my money
- Essentially I had a premium rank on the server network because I had paid them in support for having a server network I had supported for so long, and had enjoyed countless of hours on making new friends and what not. Yeah, I really invested myself into this server network, but what the server network did was really unacceptable. They claimed to have been using donations towards the network for years while I was a member, but after getting in contact and becoming friends with one of the staff from the network, I was told no one was paid and the two big server network leaders had took all the money for themselves. Not too long ago, maybe a year or so this was, I figured this and what I had also found out was that instead of spending the money on the server and staff, the two big server owners blew all the money on real-Estate. This is just one of many reasons as to why I left.
b.) they were hiring 12 year olds to run their server
- now now, before I get flamed for generalizing 12 y/os, what I mean by this statement is that they would give a moderator badge to some random kids who had no previous moderation experience and no skill with moderation at all. This would be fine I guess, if they had trained them to do their job, but instead they gave people moderation badges and essentially said "go crazy".
c.) now yes, this is a/was a decently sized network and they did get a lot of revenue from it after they had milked it so hard, but the actual good staff was poorly treated.
- None of the developers were paid and the head developer took all of the money for himself. This caused a lot of the original devs to leave the server as staff for miss representation and unequal share of the funds. With out a good development team, everything really snowballed from there. Considering the point of the network was to make enjoyable, unique game modes, you'd think there would be better treatment of the staff. The lack of developers resulted in projects that became "half backed cakes". Essentially anything they would develop and release would be terribly buggy and game modes would become unplayable.
I really could go into a rant as to why a once great kingdom fell to ashes, but that would make this post a novel.
So yeah, those are a few reasons why I had to leave my favorite network. Not really "stupid" reasons, but it really was unfair with what they were doing and their business practice was atrocious.
I guess you could say it was really stupid to what they did. They really did have a lot going for them for a long while, but the decided to dig a hole instead.
A long time ago, if there was something in the server that went against my super specific minecraft needs that nobody cared about, I'd rant about it against the owners, deem the server absolutely awful and leave a smug message before I left saying that they wouldn't last more than a month.
I acted that obnoxious for the most trivial things. Is your server on easy mode? It's mind numbingly dull. Is MCMMO installed on it? You have no originality. Does your server have minigames? That garbage is for babies, real minecraft players play on survival.
I was the worst kind of person. Thankfully I learned to just enjoy servers for what they are.

lol I almost said that, that I considered myself an "intellectual critic" not just a thirteen-year old moron.

Haven't been banned from any MC servers. Banned for being too good and hackusations on BF3 is a common occurrence though. "Kill rate too high", hah.

This isn't for being banned- it's simply for leaving.

Well that's amusing, recruit off Minecraft for GTA V.
Interesting indeed...

I joined this one server and got spawn killed over and over by the owner and two admins when the server had an auto respawn plugin enabled.
They banned me a bit later too when they lost interest.
Wonder what became of those guys...

Went into the server the guy with the same username was advertising and when I joined the guy said "haha, made you join", left immediately

I detect a bit of sarcasm in this post.
Banned items, overworld resets, etc. I get why they're needed, but they just defeat the purpose of even playing SMP, imo.

New computer.
Left a lot of servers simultaneously with this method.
My bad =) I misread what you was saying. Thanks for not throwing me to the wolves over it.
