I have played minecraft a long time. And lately, it seems like it has lost it's spark. Minecraft is not the game it used to be, at least 30% of the old gamers do not like the new minecraft.net, in fact I personally hate how they got rid of the old one. I liked how there used to be a number on the main site showing how many copies were sold. And with all the new updates lately, I'm not sure I like it anymore. I think mojang is giving us too much of what we want, with all the new things lately it just makes things to easy. The reason I liked minecraft when I bought it in 2015 (yes i know, not that long ago but still) is because it was hard, but fun. You had to work to get your stuff from one place to another. but now with the shulker boxes it is too easy. I personaly would have liked it if they left it at 1.10 and called it 2.0. I am sorry if this post annoys or insults you, but I had to say it.
Minecraft is not dead, but it has changed. Some like the changes, some don't.
It's our fault. We wanted it to change. We wanted this, that, and the other added... and we keep wanting more and more additional changes. Guess what- it is what it is. No amount of goofy changes is gonna make MC "better".
For those who love it (or are just starting out), there's nothing else like it.
If you don't like it, quit playing it. Pretty simple, huh?
I have played minecraft a long time. And lately, it seems like it has lost it's spark. It still has a spark, it's just you are changing. Minecraft is not the game it used to be, at least 30% of the old gamers do not like the new minecraft.net, in fact I personally hate how they got rid of the old one. Where is your proof that 30% of all minecraft players hate the new website? I don't mind the new minecraft.net, it was an update worth getting. I liked how there used to be a number on the main site showing how many copies were sold. And with all the new updates lately, I'm not sure I like it anymore. I think mojang is giving us too much of what we want, with all the new things lately it just makes things too easy. I think they're adding too many end-game items The reason I liked minecraft when I bought it in 2015 (yes i know, not that long ago but still) is because it was hard, but fun. You had to work to get your stuff from one place to another. And you still do. But now with the shulker boxes it is too easy. It's an end-game item for a reason. It's only a time-saver, carrying a ton of stuff from one place to another is just a nuisance. I personaly would have liked it if they left it at 1.10 and called it 2.0. Maybe it would confuse players for their April Fools version of the game, so they changed it to 1.10. I am sorry if this post annoys or insults you, but I had to say it.
1. "mojang is giving us too much of what we want" isn't that a good thing?
2. The game hasn't gotten any easier, given you just started in 2015 you are probably just getting better at it. Also Shulker Boxes are only accessible after you beat the boss, so I don't see how they make the "game" easier.
3. On the Minecraft being dead part, I believe multiplayer is pretty much dead. Minigame servers are dominating above all else, and they are drawing attention away from other wholesome servers. For instance, I used to plan on an Economy server which I found quite enjoyable which had like a thousand members and 300 on at any given time, but now there's probably only 20 on at any time. So I do believe the "traditional" multiplayer is dying. However I will say the modding community is doing amazing, I look forward to each and every Hardcore Questing pack that comes out.

Only for you; regardless of how much you like a game if you play it long enough you WILL get tired of it.
All the new updates lately? Everybody's expectations of update frequency were ruined by the extremely long update times to 1.8 and 1.9, with no major updates in 2015. 2012 alone saw 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 - four major updates in a single year (and let's not forget the near-weekly updates in Alpha/Beta). 2016 was pretty normal with three major updates (1.9, 1.10, 1.11), the same as 2013 (1.5, 1.6, 1.7).
Also, if you do not like an update, what is forcing you to play it or use the feature in question? I still play on 1.6.4 - and 1.6 was released on July 1, 2013. Five major versions and three and a half years ago; nearly all the time I've spent playing Minecraft (something close to 200 days by now, including more than half a day already spent on a new world with only 4 play sessions so far; my longest-played world has over 700 sessions and 102 days) has been in this version, which was also only the only major release I updated to since I started playing in 1.5.1 because of changes made in 1.7. If I want more than what vanilla offers I use mods (made by myself, but there are thousands of mods out there that you can use without programming).

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
There is already a thread that is still (barely) active discussing this:
