Ok, I come to this forum today to say I am never using Minecraft again. As much as Microsoft bribes me by giving me Minecraft windows 10 edition, I am currently unhappy with the "security update." I have a slightly modded version of Minecraft that gives no in game advantages, just retextures, and it runs off of it's own version. So when I connect to any server it either says that it is not apart of Mojang or I am offline. Thanks for making Minecraft from a Mod friendly game to a peace of crap. I cannot believe that my favorite video game was ruined by my favorite company. Thumbs down Microsoft, I do however thumbs up for Windows 10.
You wait for that mod to update. That happens all the time. Microsoft didnt cause that. And those 'security updates' you are unhappy with prevent people from maliciously taking over servers. I'd say its a good thing that was patched.
Oh I tried to log in with vanilla and it wont allow me so yeah I officially am done with Minecraft, bye-bye. The internet is taking away our freedom starting with the little things (Like minecraft)
Cat? You could easily retexture your game by messing with resource packs which many people are happy to do. Running off of the two clients Mojang gives you is easy. You are not saying the mods you run, so I'm assuming they are client side. I run Optifine with absolutely no issues and it makes minecraft modded. If they are not client side, then that is your problem. The servers do not support those mods. I don't see why you're blaming Microsoft for something you're doing.

I hate it when that "the internet" character takes away our freedoms! Next they'll be taking our jerbs!

Either you're a troll or very naive.
Firstly, Microsoft has nothing to do with the game. Microsoft is simply a business partner, they don't control the game nor it's development. Don't blame Microsoft for things just because they bought it.
Secondly, would you rather have to wait to update your mods or risk having servers going down because of a security update?
Thirdly, you're using mods and are connecting to a server that doesn't have the mods you are using. What do you expect to happen? The server to go "ah, let me grab those blocks and items! done!"? Seriously! You're using content that is not available on the server, of course it's not going to work!

Uggggghhhh....This. This is why we can't have nice things.
Look, as I've told countless hipsters who think Microsoft is like Valve and Apple is the only "innovative" thing out there, Microsoft has had no negative effects on Minecraft so far. Allow me to elaborate.
First of all, do you think the CEO of Microsoft just woke up one morning and said "hmm...I think I'd like to spend 2.5 billion dollars on a video game franchise"? I'll give you a hint: NO! Microsoft isn't stupid. They know how delicate and fragile the various demographics that consist of the Minecraft community are. And they're well aware of how sensitive half the community is to the concept of change. Thus, being aware of any move they make can end up precariously edging the company towards hate of the community without them even realizing it.
So...with that said...HOW IN THE CRAP IS MICROSOFT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SYSTEM NEEDING SECURITY UPDATES?!?! Just wait for the mod to update. If Mojang was still an independent company, you guys wouldn't say a thing about the security updates.

Let me get this right, 'k? You and the server you want to play on are running different versions of Minecraft. (odds are, the server hasn't updated for whatever reason). So, you -- like lots of people, every time there's an update -- can't connect to that server at the moment. And instead of picking a compatible client version, waiting for them to update, or even bugging the server owner to install the new version already, you're ... making a MCF account to come here and rant?
No, Microsoft didn't have anything to do with it. Mojang didn't even have anything to do with it. Minecraft isn't ruined, either. You've got a client/server compatibility issue, and the solution is to use whatever client version the server is expecting, wait for an update, or pester the server owner.
Also, how exactly is "the Internet" supposedly "taking away our freedom"? A game company doesn't do what you want them to ... let's say Microsoft really did totally mung Minecraft somehow, even though they didn't ... and this impacts your freedom exactly how? What freedom exactly have you lost because a game company didn't do what you want them to?
i don't see how giving you windows ten edition is "bribing" you. its really just kindness in my opinion and if your upset because of macs or something they are making a launcher for macs.... i just... don't see it... and for the server thing i would say a clean install but you can back up your saves

...I don't even understand what you're talking about. Why are you blaming Microsoft for Minecraft not letting you join servers with a modded game?
"Runs off it's own version" makes it sound like you are using a different client which would be another thing that won't let you join servers
Also you're not allowed to sell accounts.
If you just want retextures, we have this thing called a resource pack.

They always do.
Also lol @ you blaming MS for something they have nothing to do with.
That is also most likely your fault. If you really need help with vanilla just goto the Mojang support. That's why it's there

Mewtwo is the best pokemon!
You should consider that this may be not Window's update fault, but the mod's or Minecraft itself.
What does this have to do with Microsoft this is clearly your doing you use the weirdly coded textures it is your flat you can't play kid.
