I believe that the whole thing about not being able to sell in-game advantages to other players on a server is stupid, how else do you expect the server to stay up? Don't say donations, because people rarely donate. Also, if players don't like those kinds of servers, here's a tip, GO ON ONE THAT'S DONATE ONLY! I just solved the grand problem, congratulations. Why am I annoyed with this? It doesn't affect Mojang at all! Yeah, parents may call every once in a while screaming at you about their money being lost, but that's their problem for not taking better care of their money. If you want to do something to limit the money, then change the EULA to not allow an excessive amount. WynnCraft needs its VIP back to how it use to be, now it's just visually improved through VIP. Thank you for reading my complaints.

First off, Mojang made the EULA less restrictive. Before the update, it was illegal to sell anything, however Mojang decided to allow servers the choice of giving some perks to people who donate. This is a common misconception about the EULA update.
Now it is Mojang's buisness if people sell in-game items for two reasons:
1. If a server charges $10 for a diamond armour pack, they are selling me something they do not own. The Minecraft Assets are owned by Mojang, and you are selling the assets without the permission of Mojang. Not only is this ethically wrong, but also legally bad for Mojang. If Mojang doesn't protect their intelluctual property, then they could loose their rights to it. An extreme example of this almost happened to Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Strips, when the company "Band-Aid" almost lost their rights to their name since their company's name became a generic term for Adhesive Strips.
2. It is their game. Mojang has the final word on how their intellectual property is to be used. If they do not like the Pay to Win direction Minecraft was at, it is well within their legal and ethical rights to change the direction.
Next off you say, and I quote, "how else do you expect the server to stay up [without advantage giving donation perks]?" well considering many servers of all sizes have thrived within this updated EULA, Mineplex in paticular, there are ways to keep your server up within the EULA. Of course one should never run a server on the expectations of Donations, as I made clear in my thread "How to make a server successful" "Running a server is a selfless act. You are doing something for the community". It is a charity to run a server, which means you shouldn't expect anything out of it. If you do expect something out of it, you are going into server management for the wrong reasons and your server -will- fail because of that. So servers are not failing due to lack of donations as you say, but due to the very foundation the server was built upon along with natural attrition servers have due to the supply of servers outstripping the demand.
