Hello to all of you, first of all!
Very sad that my first post has to be something like that. I already searched the forums and the internet in general, but I didn’t yet find the answer I need. I hope I can remember all the details because it was quite confusing for me, lol.
This all started some weeks ago when I realized that my Minecraft skin had changed, that my inventory was completely empty and that my spawingpoint was somewhere in nowhere. I ignored this, being slightly unnerved though.
Then today I got an email telling me I should confirm the change of my email address for my Mojang account.
Since I never requested my email address to be changed I was very alarmed. Thus, I wanted to change my password. First surprise: Mojang told me I had to answer my security questions since I had never logged into my account from this computer before (what is, of course, ridiculous. I use that computer every day). I, however, didn’t have these questions. Long story short: I went and chose 3 security questions. After that I somehow got into my account. Second surprise of the day: My username had changed- without me doing anything.
Next thing I did was changing the password for my Minecraft account AND changing the password for my email account.
Now…
First question: Has someone really hacked my account or does this have some other strange reason? The fact that I still had access to the account confuses me. I didn’t really try to play yet.
Second question: Is there anything else that needs to be done to prevent whoever has somehow logged into my account from entering again? My passwords should be safe enough. Do I need to change my email address to be sure?
Additional info: I’m 100% sure it was not one of my friends or someone from my family. I'm running my anti-virus programm at the moment.
I’d be glad if someone could help me out! I need some assurance, lol. Thanks a lot in advance.
Change your MC password, and your E-Mail password.
According to Wolfram.org, a good password should have the following..
Also, running your Anti-Virus software will not help you, this is an issue with password security.
EDIT: Reading over your post again, I saw that you said you already did that. Try re-doing it with the tips I listed above.
Make sure you don't have a keylogging Virus on your computer (Malwarebytes is good at finding all kinds of things) You could contact Mojang and ask them for help with this. Also, where the items that disappeared on a server or on singleplayer?
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would
go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy
this into your signature and hope it happens.
Thank you. I just double checked the new passwords I did and they meet those requirements. If new problems arise I'll make them even longer... Though I hope that won't be necessary.
Since I apparently didn't have them from the beginning (or I simply forgot them) the ones I answered today should be okay, seeing as they are new.I just read that wrong. I thought you were talking about my Minecraft account. Thanks, I'll change the ones for my email account, too!
I will do that, thank you! It was on a server, in the middle of the game. I died and suddenly woke up in some far away forest rather than my bed.
If the server has PVP enabled, someone may have killed you and taken your items. You also have to have slept in your bed for a full night before being able to respawn there. On servers that can be difficult to do because several people may be on, and everyone has to go to sleep in order for it to work. Most servers I play on have "/sethome" enabled. That command will allow you to save your current location, so later you can type "/home" and be teleported to where you have set your home. However, I have no idea what kind of server you were playing on, so that all may have been irrelevant.
Do you happen to live with any annoying siblings that might have messed up your account?
He said he does not.
Anyone can request a password change. People usually do that to scare people. If I knew your email I could request one now, anyone could.
