In all honesty, is Minecraft dead? I feel like this game gets less and less relevant over time, and several YouTube channels previously dedicated to Minecraft (ex. TheGamingLemon, Mr360Games, Bodil40) are now trying to escape their Minecraft image. And then with the new Telltale Minecraft game, Microsoft buying Minecraft, and all of the unnecessary changes being brought to the PC version, less people playing in general... I don't know, I just get a bad feeling that Minecraft is going to crash and burn very soon.
A lot of those changes were added because people wanted them. The way I see it, more players will stick around. I don't think Minecraft will crash and burn, but it could lose a good amount of it's players. It may not be too bad if most of those who leave are the immature children, the screaming ragers, or the people who hate every single new update. the calmer, more hardcore players will be left. I feel as if it will return to a former state before it got extremely popular.

I don't think the cancerous part of the Minecraft fanbase is going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, I've seen a lot of long time Minecraft fans stop playing because the game has changed way too much, which concerns me a little.
I think it's because people are bored of it. They play it to much and they get bored. This happens for most people who play a game to much. I myself play it a lot and i'm getting a little bored of it too. I've had Minecraft for 2 years and I played it pretty much non-stop for a year of that. After that first year I have been playing less and less. I wouldn't exactly call it a cancer because any game people addicting as Minecraft was for me will start getting bored after playing it for a long time of playing it at least 3+ hours a day. I used to play many other games before I played Minecraft but I ended up getting bored of them. With Minecraft I just started playing the modded server or the mods themselves. Now I can say i'm getting a little bored with that. I can't exactly say this for everybody but I have noticed a lot of these threads lately.

If their issue was changes in new updates why not play the older version i pretty much strictly play 1.7.10 and on 1.7.10 servers but i know there are still a few servers out there still running earlier versions and in single player you have access to almost all older versions.

I can relate. From December 2012 all the way to June 2013 I could not stop playing, and I would play for hours on end. Ever since then, I've had an on and off relationship with the game. I came here because the Minecraft GameFaqs board is pretty much dead at this point, and considering how active that board used to be, I'm curious if I'm the only one who noticed this sudden drop of interest in Minecraft.

I know some people who've done that and others who say that even playing earlier versions no longer feels the same.
I know there are lot of Minecraft dedicated channels out there that still generate a lot of views, but most of the ones I used to watch back in 2013 like TheGamingLemon, Mr360Games, Clash, Bigbst4tz... they've all but abandoned Minecraft or are slowly abandoning it.
Get pc minecaft way better than crappy old xbox. And no minecraft is not dying
Yeah but both Minecraft Xbox version and Minecraft PC version are both having people post a lot of threads saying Minecraft is getting worse. I can say that more so for PC than I can for Xbox. Most people complain more about hackers and lag in PC than Xbox versions. At least that is what I have been seeing lately. Minecraft PC has way more "hack" clients than Xbox does and with my experience Xbox is way less laggy than Minecraft PC.
I used to play minecraft nonstop for awhile and now I don't know what to do. Maybe the new combat update will spark some peoples interest? I for one think the fighting in minecraft is a bit' dull and makes it extremely easy for hackers because of that. The sword fighting and potions are kinda bare bones if you ask me. Though the bow is perfect how it is.

Yeah, I personally prefer the 360 version because it's a lot more stable and it's what the majority of my friends play. But I do use the PC version from time to time for mods.

Combat has never been Minecraft's strength, and the potions are just really lame (sorry if any of you like potions)
As long as you enjoy it, why does it matter? I couldn't care less if Minecraft popularity tanks. I don't judge a game's value on its hype.
PS, I like the fact that they keep adding stuff. The more complex the better, keeps it interesting. That's why I like stuff like Tekkit, so much extra stuff.
I don't believe that the game is going dead at all. But I don't really play much anymore, there are mainly two things that keep me interested.
Updates, and mods.
Without those I'd be long gone. I've played since Alpha (that's a lot longer ago than I remember!) and the amount of time I've put in this game is incredible and probably more than all other games I've played combined (that's a lot). I used to play this game every chance I get, and I'm sure others will too.

The Game is just dying down abit. Minecraft was in it's prime in 2013.
Absolutely not. Just look at Sethbling's channel.
