I am aware of the answer Flame provided, I was merely stating that Minecraft doesn't depend as much on the CPU, and it depends on RAM. Minecraft is RAM intensive, and allocating RAM to Minecraft (A Java application) provides smoother gameplay.
If your Minecraft doesn't run smoothly, Just turn your graphics setting to fast, and your render distance down as far as you need to to get the amount of fps you want. Even an old laptop can run MC with enough sacrifices to visuals
