I bought and downloaded minecraft from their website and it works. When I close the game I cant find the icon anywhere so how am I supposed to open it? I checked the downloads file but still not there. I can only find the .minecraft in the appdata but I still cant find the icon thing. Is there any way to open it?
go back to minecraft.net and re-download the game, this time click "save as" and save it to your desktop. (this is only the launcher, so you wont have to re-download all the files in your .minecraft)

Just do what RedWire500 stated. You simply need to save it to your Desktop next time. =)

alright so I tried to redownload it from minecraft.net but it just downloads it and doesn't let me save it or anything. So when I try to open it it says it cannot find the file? I'm using google chrome.

check your computer/laptop hardware.Your computer/laptop hardware may damage due to virus, illegal software and other kind of stuff. If you don't have an anti-virus software, you need to download it and scan your computer.
I did do that but then 2 seconds later it dissapears?
..If you did what I showed you, then it should be on your Desktop.
I'm sorry, but I am starting to get the feeling that you are trolling us. >.<

...How is that even relevant to moving the Minecraft.exe launcher to the desktop? o.o
...And of course, the MC Forums quoting system is still extremely buggy..
