Any Bukkit contributor can contest the DMCA, at which point the webhost (in this case github and the host of the dl.bukkit.org site) would make it available again and the burden of proof would be on Wesley Wolfe to litigate, which he wouldn't do because that would cost his mom money.
Same story for Spigot. It seems more likely that Spigot will contest it, as they were quite animated about that.
If people has all the downloads I can host them. (so others can download them.

How much code did Wesley Wolfe contribute? From what I gather, Wolfe has copyright over what he has written. Since it's a part of Bukkit, then he can legally do what he did. The only way Bukkit could go on would be redo Bukkit without his code. I also understand that there may be some decompiled Mojang code in there or not, I've seen debates about whether that code is or is not closed source belong to Mojang. If it does contain their code, then they could issue notices as well. In that case, it would be up to Mojang or MS to rewrite the code without Wolfe's contribution but Mojang seems reluctant to do so.
Actually, it wouldn't. if somebody hosted a Bukkit download however and Wesley learned of it, he would likely file another DMCA takedown against it.
Court would only be the result if the takedown is contested and pursuant to the DMCA Wesley pursues further litigation.
depends on what country the file is hosted at.

This is true. However if you mean that it only works if the file is hosted in the U.S, that actually isn't true.
Any website hosted in a country that is part of the World Intellectual Property Organization falls under the DMCA- or, rather, must comply with DMCA takedowns, through international treaties.
There is many of web hosting companies even then one I am under is hosted in countries who does not support the DMCA

I host servers occasionally.
No I guess. Microsoft is not gonna be happy since they own Bukkit. Mojang bought Bukkit a while ago.

It also appeared to me that Spigot may contest it first. Does Microsoft have the ability to do anything?

I was considering that. Would we be able to make a thread for Bukkit/Spigot downloads without any legal issues? XD
