Did they remove skeletons wearing gold/leather/chain armor? I have a mob grinder, and my favorite thing was getting (rare) chain. I have the full set and am missing the pants. But ever since 1.8, I have not seen a single piece of armor drop. They are not wearing anything!
When we updated our server to 1.8, it reset all the "local difficulty" clocks and thus long-occupied regions no longer had practically every mob running around in full armor. So our skeleton grinder that HAD been dropping chain mail and high-enchanted gold and leather regularly (we're only on Normal global difficulty so we don't get diamond armor, sadly) is back to low-enchanted gold and leather mostly, and not much of those. Use it a while, and the local regional difficulty should climb and start giving you more armor again. Check to make sure you're on one of the harder difficulties and see what phase of the moon it is, as those also affect such things.

I have been camping this grinder for hours now (it is also near my iron farm), afk, while playing Watch Dogs. In addition, I have gained about 50 levels here killing mobs. How long does it take to get those local difficulty levels up? (I am playing in SMP, normal difficulty) So far 0 drops (not even leather)!
The couldn't have. It wasn't included in the update synopsis for 1.8⏩
Well, we also went from Bukkit/Spigot to plain vanilla, that might have had something to do with the local difficulty resetting. Dunno.
As to how long it takes to get maximum regional difficulty, that's 50 hours according to the Wiki. But well before that, you should be getting some noticeable effect. Do you SEE any mobs with armor on, or are they just not dropping armor when killed? Even when they have armor, it's a pretty low chance to drop it when killed, so maybe you're just "rolling badly" with the virtual dice. A looting 3 sword helps with that, but not a whole lot. Chance of a drop goes up from like 1 percent to 3 percent or something like that.

Help same here I have only been playing for 2 weeks everyday same house and I have never seen armor on a mob
Are you using the "/time set 0" or "/time set day" commands to end night? Is someone else on your server? I stopped doing that (I'm an admin on our server, and got into that bad habit) and pretty soon the local difficulty was back up and mobs were wearing a lot of armor in my darkroom grinder. Sleeping in a bed is fine, but manually resetting time ALSO resets the clock on regional difficulty and the "Day 542" or whatever clock on the F3 debug screen.

Are u saying day 542 is when they start? Thx for reply guys.
I'm pretty sure 542 was just an example.
And the day counter is global as far as I can tell, so it doesn't actually tell you how much time you've spent where you are.
Yes, 542 was just an example. It's a global day counter...but it still resets to zero when I used "/time set 0" to skip night. So did regional difficulty, from 2.50 down to 1.50. Avoiding using that command for a couple of days, the day counter is back up into the 600's on my server last I checked, and regional difficulty is back up to 2.50 (we play on normal difficulty or it would go higher).
