This might be a repost of some kind, but last time I didn't get a helpful response. I will try to explain the problem better this time as I fill the last post might have been misleading.
My friend and I play Minecraft over LAN. Using a program called Evolve, before it was Himachi. We join the server normally, that I host, but he can never see my skin. This wasn't a problem before, it started happening recently. Which you can see If you click on my signature. I don't know weather this is an issue with the Minecraft client or the 1.7.10 patch. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Could it just be a really a bit of slow internet. I know when play with my friend over LAN (with hamachi and stuff) my skin won't work; he can see it thought. I thought it was just a bit of lag.
I just checked with my friend. He says the only thing using internet other than Minecraft was Skype. Like I've said this isn't the first time we've played nor the first time we have talked over Skype while playing. I don't think Skype is causing the interference.
That's not necessarily true. I am fairly sure that this skin problem has to do something with 1.7.10. I play on many servers in 1.7.10 and almost everybody is steve. But when I play in any other versions like 1.7.2 or 1.7.5, I can see everyone's skin just fine.
If you are playing on a true LAN (Without outside network access) then you cannot use skins without creating your own skin server and rerouting requests to it using DNS

I believe there is an issue with some of the more recent versions in LAN mode for whoever is hosting the game. The host can see their own skin, and others skins, but others can not see the hosts skin, but do see their own. Is this how it is for you?
This is something that has been affecting me since around 1.7.5. I think they made changes in that version and beyond with the way servers and the skins work or something, and it was likely an oversight that affected LAN mode? Older versions work fine (1.7.4 and prior), but 1.7.5, 1.7.6, 1.7.9, and 1.7.10 all behave like this for me. I haven't tried to see if this still occurs in any of the 1.8 snapshots or pre-releases yet.

This is exactly how my problem works. I host a LAN server, i can see my skin and my friend's skin, but they cant see my skin. Is there any fix for this?
I played two or three days ago hosting an LAN game and it is still occurring for me (1.7.10). I'm not sure if this has been fixed as of 1.8 or not. It didn't start occurring until around 1.7.5, and in the previous versions, this does not occur.
I can't see the custom steve skins in lan either. I can see it myself but my bf can't see my custom steve skin, instead he sees me as my minecraft normal custom skin. He is the host. I see him as default skin. He can see custom steve skin on himself as well.
