Welcome to the minecraft competition! In this competition, I create a challenge. Then, competitors make videos showing themselves completing the challenge. They are then ranked on a certain criteria, which may vary from challenge to challenge.
All videos should be PM'd to me on Sunday. It's recommended that you don't post them to this thread until the next challenge is live, so people don't steal your ideas.
LEADERBOARDS: No players currently ranked.
CURRENT CHALLENGE:
Challenge 2:
Play through Sonic the Hedgehog by FVDisco, hitting all 5 checkpoints and the finish line . . . IN REVERSE ORDER.
Obey all rules of the map.
Single player only.
You may not use any commands.
Your submission will be timed from map spawn. If you fail the challenge, please unzip a new map.
You do not have to hit the start run button. Simply run across all 6 tripwires in reverse order.
No duplication glitches.
You must play on 1.4.7.
Points:
First place receives 200 points.
Second place receives 150 points
Third place receives 100 points.
Fourth place receives 50 points.
Fifth place and beyond receive 20 points.
Tips:
Those TNT launchers are a lot more powerful than they seem...
PREVIOUS CHALLENGES:
(You can still submit videos for these challenges. You will receive 10% of the points for a submission, but if your submission is higher scoring than the 4th place person, you will instead receive 25% of the points. All competitors who scored 10% of the points originally can re-submit a video to receive more points.)

Actually, This could be practical. My friend did a similar test among 'friends'
Would the videos have to be narrated?
Any minimum requirements?
Would you do it all on the same seed?
The only requirement of the video would be it is watchable. If necessary, you can film your monitor with a webcam. No sound, just footage to make sure that you didn't cheat.
No requirements at all.
Not all challenges would be in the vanilla game, some might be from famous custom maps. For the vanilla survival challenges, all players will download a map that I have provided, so everyone plays off the same seed.
Maybe the goal could be to kill the ender dragon and the wither.
Although that would be a very time consuming challenge.
I might use that as the final challenge. I might do something to cut down on the time it would take, like picking a seed with a very nearby stronghold.

Thanks, but what I really need right now are people who are interested in competing in the competition. If you have any ideas for the challenges, you can feel free to post them here though, I'll probably use some of them.
I'd like to add a suggestion. Perhaps a competition on teching up and there will be a time limit like 3 hours?
Lets say: Player must be able to autocraft a Solar Panel. You will need to run a modpack and have at least applied energistics and IC2.
Players must go mine the resources
That could be interesting, but I'd prefer to keep this completely vanilla. I want it to be as accessible as possible, and mods simply aren't that accessible. Also, say I did a FTB challenge on this competition. People who had previously used FTB would have a massive advantage over those who didn't. It would turn into a competition of who knows FTB best, rather than one over who knows Minecraft best. Interesting concept though, if you'd convert that to something vanilla, I will probably use it.

Challenge 1:
Level up the tech tiers! Collect dirt, wood, stone, iron, gold, redstone, and obsidian, and place them on the monument No gameplay-affecting mods. You must play on Hard Mode. You may not use any commands. No collecting anything or breaking / placing blocks before pushing the start button. Single player only. No duplication glitches. You must play on 1.7.10.
Download: All competitors must play off of this downloadable map. Link Removed
Points: First place receives 100 points. Third place receives 50 points. Fourth place receives 25 points. Fifth place and beyond receive 10 points.
Tips: Don't rush head first into this challenge. Plan your route. Before attempting to get a run, know exactly where you'll get the items you'll need. There's nothing in the rules against taking multiple attempts.

If there's enough people who are interested, I'll probably post the first goal Monday.
