I know the enthusiasm about Minecraft within the community has died down, that's was obvious a while ago, but there hasn't even been a snapshot in almost two months. Has the enthusiasm at Mojang even fizzled out? I guess they have other things to be worrying about. I don't follow the MC News so maybe there is a reason for the lack of snapshots.

Is it dead? Is the counter for purchases rising rapidly? Is the game Minecraft passing 11 mil sails as we speak? Is Blazin460 not paying attention and can see that they are working on things constantly as they are updating their twitter? Is Blazin460 just not paying attention?

Minecraft is by far Mojang's most profitable game, and I would bet my money that it always will be. Believe me, Minecraft isn't just going to die.
Honestly though, Mojang doesn't need to reinvigorate the community at all. The members of the community have already paid for the game, thus in a financial perspective it is better to appeal to people who haven't bought the game yet.
Lol yeah some of the updates are unnecessary but there still needs to be updates to reinvigorate the community,
Why?
Chess hasn't been updated since the middle ages, but its community seems to be alive and well. I know more hardcore chess players IRL than I do hardcore Minecraft players.
When a company isn't patching/bugfixing a game all the time, it doesn't mean they've lost interest in it -- it means it doesn't need constant patching/bugfixing because it works right and they don't have to run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to make it work.
Okay all fair points. And @Phanton_Zelon that counter is obviously fake it increases at 4 second intervals. And chess hasn't been updated since the middle ages because it was fine the way it was. So was MInecraft and all these updates are unnecessary. When they added bats, that's when I decided MInecraft was finished.

Or maybe the site just updates the purchases every 4 seconds?
Minecraft is definately not dead, if you are feeling that the port of minecraft that you play on is starting to slow down, go to a different port until it speeds back up, on the xbox minecraft is usually very popular, but a few months ago when it started to slow down, i got bored, so i played the pc version until it picked back up
Note: you may find yourself addicted to the other ports
Summer is almost over, so that may have something to do with it. I myself have found myself playing less and preparing for school. As for Mojang's lack of snapshots, I don't know, Mojang hasn't said anything. Anyway it hasn't been that long, so just be patient.
Its not dieing at all, There's lots off different new mods out there that you can add and so much things to create and new creatures and monsters to fight with these mods. Mojang is quite busy at work making the Minecraft world even better then before, and I have converted 6 of my freinds just recently to buy the game and join in on my server. Its amazing!
To me, it seems like it is. I don't see anymore people on the servers I play on, and the others I play on, population is decreasing. It's either that Minecraft is dying, or that the players would rather play on those Minigame servers.

Just because they aren't needed doesn't mean they aren't good. Resource packs aren't NEEDED but they are definitely a good thing.
And? It probably just increases then instead of real-time because flooding the thing with constant updates would make it impossible to watch.
Note: you may find yourself addicted to the other ports
He's right, they are close to getting 12 million sales.
