Many people either say Minecraft is dying or is still going strong. Both are true. This generation of Minecraft fans IS dying. But younger fans are joining. What people have to realize is that Mojang is a company. Companies have to make money. I know Alpha and Beta players are complaining how Minecraft isn't what it used to be. They're right. Mojang knows it won't get another dollar, pound, or Euro from anyone who's already purchased Minecraft. So Mojang made way for the next generation. Once every little sister or brother saw their older sibling play Minecraft, they wanted to be just like them and buy the game. So they did, and guess what, they got mauled by creepers, zombies, and hunger. So Mojang made the game easier. And it worked. What little 7-year old girl wouldn't just buy Minecraft because of horses? So what if horses ruin the game of survival Minecraft?, 7-year olds have shorter attention spans. The point is, Mojang knows that it is ruining Minecraft in exchange for money from it's younger fans.
I think the game is still going strong, people just can't seem to get over their nostalgia sickness, though. Things change and I wish people would stop complaining about it so much.
I agree. I joined last year, and I seen videos of the older Minecraft. The newer one is very different, but it's still good in ways. It's still fun no matter what. And there will always be fans following them- old or new. I, myself, prefer old and new generations of Minecraft. It may change, but theres still a few things that stayed. To build, survive, and have fun!
Many people either say Minecraft is dying or is still going strong. Both are true. That is an opinion, I accept it but respectfully disagree.
This generation of Minecraft fans IS dying. Not really. I know atleast 50 people from alpha and even infdev that are still playing and still love the game.
But younger fans are joining. Younger people have always played this game, that is invalid.
What people have to realize is that Mojang is a company. Companies have to make money. So your insisting that the changes are based on Mojang being a money hungry company?
I know Alpha and Beta players are complaining how Minecraft isn't what it used to be. They're right. Mojang knows it won't get another dollar, pound, or Euro from anyone who's already purchased Minecraft. So Mojang made way for the next generation. Not really. Have you ever considered that it is in fact their game and they can do what they want? People also have can have multiple accounts you know.
Once every little sister or brother saw their older sibling play Minecraft, they wanted to be just like them and buy the game. So they did, and guess what, they got mauled by creepers, zombies, and hunger. Does that really matter? They play, they can get owned by mobs, or they can play on peaceful.
So Mojang made the game easier. And it worked. Cough-cough look at the recent change logs for hostile mobs.
What little 7-year old girl wouldn't just buy Minecraft because of horses? So what if horses ruin the game of survival Minecraft?, 7-year olds have shorter attention spans. So they added horses because they wanted little girls to buy the game (horses are one feature). Not because other people actually wanted them?
The point is, Mojang knows that it is ruining Minecraft in exchange money from it's younger fans. Again, an overly cynical view of a great indie game company. Wow.

Hey, if you want to make sure I saw what you said, quote me on it.
There are things that I love about the old Minecraft that doesn't exist anymore and there are things that I love about the new Minecraft that didn't exist before. I just wish I could have them all in one game.
Every company is money hungry. Some companies just do it in bad days.
Implying that:
1. Companies do not care about the quality of their product.
2. They also do not care about how satisfied the customer is, only that they get a profit.
Sure companies need money to function, everyone needs money to function. But just because they need money doesn't mean the are going out of their way to make it.

True that they made mobs harder, but overall, the game is easier (for number of reasons I said in another topic I don't feel like repeating).

You got me here, but mobs still do play a key role in difficulty. But just because the game is easier, doesn't mean they are trying to increase sales. My 6 year old cousin can play on on hard and go pretty long without dying considering his age, goes after mobs and everything else.

I have to disagree. If Mojang thought that they were doing a bad job then they would not put the things that they put in. They put what they want in the game, and they don't put everything that people suggest in and sell out like some companies, and I respect that. I think that everything that they are adding is amazing, and that they are doing a good job and they are trying their best. I appreciate the hard work they do and I don't complain like some annoying 12-year-olds. I don't think that the game is dying, in fact I think that the game is doing better than ever, considering that they continue to make new sales, and they continue to make awesome updates.
Any game that updates ever has people complaining they liked it better before. Just because opinions exist doesn't mean the game is going down the drain.
So what if horses ruin the game of survival Minecraft?
Well, there goes the whole survival aspect of it. Let's be honest, that's half of the game. The other half is creative, and I personally find that boring after a while.
Of course, there are mods and such which can alter the game experience. But, I don't enjoy the complication of Tekkit or anything. Heck, even villages/enchanting is pretty overcomplicated and un-needed.

And how exactly, do horses ruin the survival aspect?

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

You mean like Activision with their constant charging for the same game, every year?
My house is made of steel, with paper for doors.
And how exactly, do horses ruin the survival aspect?
Now - "Man Mojang has ruined the game with horses and sprinting and hunger and all that."
I wish the mods would start closing topics like these because they are baseless, useless wastes of space.
In your world "Minecraft is dying" but in the real world "minecraft is selling more copies of the game than ever"
Can you show proof that in his world "Minecraft is dying"? Because he just said, in his title, it wasn't.
Opinions are absolutely fine to post on a forum.
