Since you gave counterexamples to everything people said, I'll put them back.
1. Butter CAN be yellow, as displayed in other people's pictures.
2. SkyDoesMinecraft did it, and a lot of people like him, even if he is a college drop-out.
3. There's a swap between real life and Minecraft here. Everyone who supports calling gold "butter" notices that gold tools only have around 32 uses, which means it is soft. Efficent, but particularly useless to make.
4. I don't think we're talking about real life about smothering apples in gold. If we were talking about real life, creepers wouldn't exist, and that wouldn't really work out.
5. Butter does not look like a flat plate. It looks like a stick, just like the gold ingot.
6. Everyone has their opinions.
7. Pretty much same as #6.
8. Some people consider it funny still. Everyone has their own sense of humor.
All my friends call gold
Butter
And I agree with you TVflea. I have no idea why people are just following SDM (Sky Does Minecraft). It's really getting boring. And annoying.
I don't call gold ingots butter myself, but I also think that telling someone not to call it butter is like being American and going up to someone from Britain and telling them to stop speaking funny (or vice-versa). Its how they speak and their right to say it. You could spend all day arguing about a discreet pronunciation of a word, but in the end, does it really affect you? It doesn't make sense, but get used to it, because that's the internet for you.

I have been fairly amused by this thread. Namely the amount of valid arguments made that TVflea completely ignored.
You asked why people call it butter. It was answered several times why it is called butter, and most answers were correct. It doesn't matter that you think the logic behind why people call it butter is flawed. The fact is, this is the logic, and it is the reason people do it. Therefore, your question has been answered and yet you seem to be taking this to mean you have to argue with the people to change their minds. You're not going to change anyone's mind by posting counter arguments here because the people loyal to this youtuber (don't care enough to scroll back up and find his name) don't care about the logic, and most of them probably won't even visit this thread. Also, the people who have been posting the reasons don't seem to be the ones who call it butter. They're just answering your question honestly. Every time someone puts forward a valid argument that you don't completely ignore, you tell them what you think, why they should think the way you think, and why thinking like someone else is stupid. This method of argument is both pointless and hypocritical.

I've been talking to dead rabbits and feeding bloody walls. I've done horrifying things with salad tongs...
It's really eaten into my social life.
Gold was called butter simply for it's lack of durability, and because of its color. Sure, butter is a pale white, as described in the OP, but people made the connection that gold was a weak material to use for tools and broke incredibly easily, therefore somehow relating it to butter.
I don't agree with the above reasoning. Gold is gold, and good if you have an enchanting table. I am just guessing that the above is why people have the tendency to call gold "budder".
(Also, a famous minecraft youtuber does it, which was acknowledged in the OP, and that probably has had its influence.)
Yah cheese without holes, and the old texture looks like a cheese on top of a caramel
now back to the topic i find it weird too gold does not connect to butter anyway

For the 194th time, this thread is not forcing you to call gold it's proper name, it's only giving you irrefutable reasoning as to why not to call it butter, or worse bwudder.
Before I started watching Sky, yes, I will let you guys know I am infact, a "brainless follower of a college drop - out weirdo with a screen recorder and a microphone" which is basically TVFlea's definition of anyone who subscribes to sky... but anyways, besides the point XD, before I knew anything about sky I thought people used to call gold "budder" because Gold tools and armor break so easily hence "Budder tools" But I guess it's just one of those things that go around the internet that someone started.. kinda like The harlem shake or Gangnam Style... sorry it annoys you, I only call gold budder when playing with my friends who are also "brainless follower of a college drop - out weirdo with a screen recorder and a microphone" but I don't shout "BUDDER" I just say Found some budder as casually as saying "Found some gold" and when I DO say it in an annoying fashion, it's irl to get on the nerves of a friend who is the only one of our group to hate sky XD
The Butter boots thing was coined by Seananners (For those of you who actually watched a good lets play back in the good old days) SkyDoesMinecraft Is a Poser

Pirate language -> Golden Boots.
Anyhow.... it was started by SkyDoesMinecraft on YouTube, and a lot of his Recruits call it that now.
Actually, It started in one of the first alpha let's-plays, when the guy crafted gold boots and put them on, saying, "It looks like I stuck two sticks of butter on my feet!" and called them "Butter Shoes".

I call gold butter, and I don't even watch skydoesminecraft much, I call it butter beacause I.Gold shoes look like sticks of butter. II.Some butter is yellow. III.Gold is weak, like everone's favorite toast condiment. IV.Minecraft doesn't actually have butter in it. V.I like roman numerals and thik they look professional, so I added and extra reason.
My point is, my calling of gold butter actually has nothing to do with skydoesminecraft.
