Guys, it's spreading.
I went to a Sonic video, and you know how in Sonic and the Black Knight he becomes Excalibur Sonic for the final battle, wearing a golden suit of knight armor?
Someone called it butter, got the top comment.

I'd better prepare my sword before they kidnap my non-butter-calling family.
The reason we call it "Butter" is for many reasons. First reason, a gold ingot in fact does look like a stick or margarine, with the shape and color! Second A LOT OF PEOPLE watch SkyDoesMinecraft, or TheMinecraftUniverse, etc and they all use the term "Butter" For anything that has to do with gold! If you are a pro (like me :D) at Minecraft than you would know exactly why they are called "Butter".
Also the stupid hatred for squids gets on my nerves as well, its just plain silly.
If you hate squids, you gotta hate one of the main administrators :)Well, I suppose I could repeat the words of wisdom one guy said one time.
We all have different opinions regarding "Butter," and I can kinda live with others decisions.
"I prefer to call it butter because it amuses me, although I can see why others don't like it." Okay, that's perfectly all right.
"I call it butter because it's funny." Alright, buddy, still in a way makes SOME sense.
"BWUUDAAAAHHHHH IT'S CALL'D BWUUDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH YOU DUNNO ANYFIN' BOUT MAY'NNNKRAAAAAAAAAAAAAFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTT" Where the hell is my shotgun when I need it.
Because it is yellow and in a stick form. Simple as that. If you wish to get into more technically means, it is weak and soft. So is butter. The color is somewhat resemblant, but I have really never seen such yellow butter in my life. Depends what planet you live on. I personally live on earth, so our butter here looks pretty white-ish, resemblant of a 4 month past due date jug of milk.
I hope this helped explain the relationship between gold and butter... It's rather simple really!
I was replying to people who thought that since butter is slippery, it would increase the momentum of objects that moved over it. Powered rails have this ability, and are made from gold, therefore it would seem that this would be a valid reason to call gold in minecraft "butter". My refutation showed that this property of gold was not consistent with other golden objects in minecraft, like golden pressure plates.

Yeah. Butter is ... Not shiny yellow. If it is shiny yellow butter you eat, I would advise to send it to a chemical lab for research.
TT2000, you are genius.

If gold is indeed butter, then why are gold tools so much more efficient than other tools?
I wonder what'll come next!

_____________---
I am up to here*points at head* with everyone calling it "budder".
First off, incorrect spelling. Go check a dictionary.
Second off, it's annoying.
Third off, it doesn't even look like butter!

That is understandable due to largely immature fanbase, however it's hard to believe he started the craze.
OT: I hate butter.
Same here. Unless it's on my toast...then I'm cool.
But my friend here...he loves it. So much he has his pizza with butter. I call it an addiction.

I used to eat butter plain.
