1. Banning wouldn't be a problem, there would just be a UUID set to your account you bought.
2. Spelling Mistakes will be easier to change.
3. A cost or fee for changing your name, like every one year you can change your name.
4. People won't have to use hacks or third party programs to change their username.
5. It will stop questioning and bugging about how to change usernames and why they cannot.
6. When someone makes a new username they cannot use usernames that aren't already in the database.
7. If someone changes their username to a famous youtuber or a mojang staff member, they will be reverted to their last username and will not be allowed to change their username for another year.
Hopefully the Mojang staff will see this post and take this into consideration in the next update.
While I agree that some username choices can be unfortunate, I also think that the ability to easily change Minecraft account names would create too much difficulty in blocking access to griefers.
Maybe username changes could be allowed along with a way to pull up a users name history. Another option would be to make the username permanent, but allow an alias to be registered and used in place of the username (and also capable of being looked up).

Beautifully put! on top of that to limit the name changing they could give everyone one FREE name change and then charge for more after that (sound familiar?) Xbox's system for name change is fair IMO
There should be some kind of penalty for changing a username. A small fee? Maybe you can only do it once a year?
I don't know, but I do support it. Personally, however, I could never do it. I get incredibly attached to things and my username is one of them. Green's stickin around for awhile yet.
I can see why people want do change there name because their name might be creeps123 and they created the account when they were 10 and thought it was funny but now want to change it
But this system could be abused badly and would ruin UserNames
Also nobody would know who you are if you completely change your UserName

It's a nice idea, but I don't see it happening, think about how many problems changing a username would create in the website's data base. If anything, it would probably just be nicknames.
I have no strong feelings one way or another. I'd change my name to remove the numbers from it, but I already have a classic account named Aranamor that I have no method to delete as of yet.

Not really. You should have chosen a proper name the first time. /case closed.
While I agree with you on one level I do recognize that there are a lot of immature silly kids that end up making some very stupid usernames. As time goes on and they grow up and hopefully mature they realize "that is a really dumb name!" and want something new without loosing all their current game data.
Bottom line, people make mistakes and should have at least one chance to correct that mistake.

& you can correct that mistake by buying a new account.
I do not support this because the amount of time spent on this, will not be worth it. It will be severely abused. Besides, I'm not a fan of seeing little 10-year olds change their names everyday with immature crap.

That is why I suggested that the player is limited to a one time only name change with a fee... say half the cost of a brand new account. Can't abuse something that can only be done once and costs coin. One you change your name once then that's it for you.

Wouldn't it be a bummer if someone hacked into your account and changed your username? Then they go on their account and change it to your old one. You would then never be able to get it back.
Well I agree with all of you in some way or another. A fee system would be great, especially if it was just once a year and it kept your past usernames in a database or just a permanent ID for your account. I would not support having to pay for a username change.
There are so many ways this system could be abused!
