I think Minecraft is dying. Everythings getting way out of whack. Lots of things are so unbalanced. I know the game is still in BETA but I dont think that everything will get fixed. By "unbalanced" I mean the game has higher level things than the missing basics. Think about it this way: Minecraft has squids and wolves before it has basic things likes birds and fish. Minecraft has trap doors and pistons before windows and furniture. In the Adventure update, Minecraft will have Mushroom biomes before other basic things like swamps. And its really bothering me how there will be mushroom biomes that have enourmous mushrooms. Its so stupid. What will possibly be the use for huge mushrooms. Plus they will look ugly in the distance. Its kinda scaring me that they might just break one of the best games in history.
I think that Notch is taking in way too many suggestions from people. Thats what breaks games!
I agree, trapdoors look like ****, default gfx need MAJOR improvements, physics need improvements, if you got minecarts, boats, then add more complex boats, more powersources, instead of taking things from mods, and retexturing them.... wildgrass=mod, pistons=mod, what next? black octopuses that steal my chests?
I don't agree. To look at what you have posted, I'll say this:
Minecraft has fish, just not a mob of them. I'd rather have wolves than birds due to accessibility and usefulness. Trapdoors and pistons are both useful, creative, and can create amazing things. Glass can be used as a window. What would you truly use furniture for in Minecraft anyway? We have swamp biomes, but they just don't look the way you want them to. You don't know how the mushrooms will truly be, considering they won't be released for another month.
In my honest opinion, these changes are quite exciting, and I feel that Notch should have no remorse or regret for any of them.
It is not. Minecraft isn't about being so realistic, It is about the infinite universe, fighting off the undead, exploring the world which you mold with your very MIND!
So you see? Minecraft is not dying.
I completely agree with you on the mushrooms and taking in suggestions. But i don't think that is dying, more like its having a mid-life crisis.
@firechicken, there isn't a long way to go. . .
for instance; you only have like 4 more months to use that "Oh, it'll get better, its still in beta, y'know. . ." excuse.

Well it is only my opinion. Minecraft is one the the funnest games I have ever played in my life. I just dont want them to make a wrong move that will destroy the entire game.
This. Ootachi has no idea if Mojang intended this at all, but the lack of sensible things has just fuelled everyone's imagination. No furniture? Use signs and stairs or use pistons as tables.
Minecraft is a building blocks game. It's like using LEGO if you only had randomly sized blocks of different colours and none of the fancy ones with pictures on. You use what limited resources you have to build great things and that's what makes it so fun.
Yes, said perfectly.
This game would be boring without our imagination. Your suppose to think of what to use for furniture. People have made tables, seats, carpets, lamp posts, it's almost endless. That's the fun of it. If they added all of that stuff to me it would get boring. I like it when you can just use your imagination and make endless creations. If you cared about all that stuff just go get mods.

I don't think it's dying, though I would like some of those things implemented. Furniture would be nice, but it only serves an aesthetic purpose, as would more distinct swamps, though perhaps unique swamp and rainforest fauna and flora could alter gameplay in a meaningful way. But I don't think they're more basic than the things already introduced, and I think the things he has added are interesting and positive contributions.
I don't like the idea of Mushrooms, but I'll wait until it comes out to pass judgement.
And the last bit I think is the funniest, because I always hear people say "Notch doesn't listen to any of the communities suggestions." Which I think is more accurate, but I also think that, while there are plenty of good ideas out there he's not seeing, there are far more bad ideas being rightfully ignored.

Just a question...
How old are you... this is relevant to my next point.
Lol, Total Annihilation has been going for 13 years now.
We arent't worried about it dying, theres still online games and modding stuff going on for it.
I'm sure minecraft will last as long, if not longer.
It would be cool to snipe a bird.... >:smile.gif:
Under 13 - "AHA! I knew it! You're too young to understand the beauty of Minecraft! Begone, child!"
Between 13 and 18 - "AHA! I knew it! You're too fuelled by hormones and pornography to understand the beauty of Minecraft! Begone, child!"
Over 18 - "AHA! I knew it! You're too old to understand the beauty of Minecraft! Begone, young adult/middle aged/doddery old fool!"
Is Ootachi in the right area with that?
Pretty much...
I think from the butthurt levels I am detecting, OP is probably the first.
Going to respond Ark? Eh? I'll answer your questions anyway.
Hey guys ):
I think Minecraft is dying.
Everythings getting way out of whack. Lots of things are so unbalanced. Examples?
I know the game is still in BETA but I dont think that everything will get fixed. Obviously not EVERYTHING but most of the bugs will be fixed and he will continue doing that for as long as he can.
By "unbalanced" I mean the game has higher level things than the missing basics. Think about it this way: Minecraft has squids and wolves before it has basic things likes birds and fish. Birds and fish are useless, Notch has actual updates to do. We already have fish anyway, it is just not a mob. Minecraft has trap doors and pistons before windows and furniture. Use your imagination. In the Adventure update, Minecraft will have Mushroom biomes before other basic things like swamps. And its really bothering me how there will be mushroom biomes that have enourmous mushrooms. Its so stupid. Opinion and speculation. What will possibly be the use for huge mushrooms. Plus they will look ugly in the distance. Opinion and speculation.
Its kinda scaring me that they might just break one of the best games in history.

No, its not gonna die soon, just wait, as you said its only in beta, it has a long way to go.
