So, I've been playing minecraft for a while now, maybe half a year. This whole time, I've played on peaceful. I've switched out of peaceful a couple times, but it always ends up with me dead, and lost all my stuff. I want to switch to easy mode all the time, but I'm a terrible fighter. Any tips on how to slay those skeletons, creepers, spiders, and zombies?

Make arrows and a bow and shoot monsters from your house. Just beware of spiders climbing up your wall so have a sword with you too. Armor would be great too.
For starters, a good tip is to stay on Normal a lot. Don't go to peaceful all the time. Try keeping all your items but a sword in a chest and going out to fight. Zombies are extremely easy, they shouldn't take any effort at all unless they gang up on you or something. Creepers, just run at them and hit them. Then you should run back till they cool down or explode and keep doing that till they die. Spiders are pretty easy overall..just keep hitting them and running backwards if you need to. Skeletons are the hardest in my opinion. Skeletons are hard till you get up close and just spam click/attack them. To get close up to them it's best to zig zag back and forth while going forward. When your in range just spam click and run towards them.
Hope those tips helped you. You can always look up a video on YouTube too.
You can always use traps too or get a bow and lots of arrows.

Well When I play On SMP its always hardcore so it teaches me how to survive for on SSP. The Trick Is Build A town on SSP and keep things close by. Storage /Farms / etc. When Mining Keep It Far Away if possible. When You Do Have a Mine build a structure around it and make it secure. Mobs Dont tend to Spawn in tightly built areas. But when it comes down to fighting - KEEP MOVING, bunny hop/ do what ever that keeps that at bay. When you go to strike the mob let them come at you. Hit and repeat! Creepers are different! make sure they are near a wall or something. They will Hide and peek around corners. when they bob there head around the corner hit them and back away to let the calm down. repeat this till there dead. Other then that its simple. day = Best Friend :biggrin.gif:!
Before going out and hunting monsters, I suggest you start by practicing on the regular animals around the world.
First, make yourself a bow and some arrows. Go find some chickens. Start fairly close and shoot at them. As you get better, move further back. If you can hit those small, randomly moving chickens accurately, you're ready for the skeletons. (Plus chickens drop feathers to help you resupply your quiver of arrows.)
Then, make several wooden swords and go practice on various animals. Get used to how close you have to be and what it takes to aim. Use a wooden sword because it takes more hits and so you get more swings in per animal.
When you're comfortable with what it takes to fight, it's time to take on something a little more dangerous. Start with zombies, if you can. They're slow, don't shoot at you from a distance, and don't explode. Put a few arrows in them and then finish them with a sword.
For your first forays into monster hunting, make sure you have armor on as it makes a big different. Put some food in your hotbar. You really only need the sword, the bow, and then all the rest can be food. (Carry more food in your pack.) Do not carry any other gear. You don't need it and it will just get lost if you die.
Don't be afraid to run away. That's still how I fight creepers. Run back, turn and shoot them with a bow. (Maybe having to run away some more if they get too close. I leave the last blow for the sword to conserve arrows.)
You may also want to get a mod like Single Player Commands so that you can create gear and spawn animals and monsters to practice on. Just create a practice world and have at.

Minecraft 1.6.6: Where the mushrooms begin to take over the world. You thought pod people were bad? Wait till the mushrooms start walking.
You're going to take SOME kind of damage when you go on a good adventure.
Take food with you.
Make a farm in, or near, your house. Go to the Nether and kill some Pigmen for 2 cooked porks each. Kill some piggies and do it manually. Collect mushrooms and make a bunch of mushroom soup later on.
Take a sword.
Mine a couple stone and make a stone sword. When you find diamond invest in a diamond sword.
Collect iron - Make armor.
Iron is used for many things, so I'm sure you're probably collecting a lot of it already. Set aside a stack and make yourself some armor. You'll find everything hurts a lot less when you have it on.
This is what I do every time I play. It's really the most basic thing you can do. I don't start using Bow + Arrows and other stuff until later when I have a lot of supplies.

Equip a sword. Walk outside (in Minecraft). Wander around and do whatever you want while spamming left-click on your mouse.
First of, dont keep switching between peaceful and other difficulties. It doesnt matter if you die as long as you're next to your spawn point (an exception would be when your 30 blocks underground and loaded with precious ore, in that situation, even i would switch when im on low health). If you keep switching difficulties everytime you encounter an enemy, you'll never learn to fight properly.
Second, occasionaly, you have to just go out there during night and just slaughter enemies until your dead. You can easily learn to fight well when you are surrounded by them and have no other way out.
Third, use F3 if you need it. i always use it when im inside caves and places like that to prevent running into creepers in places that ive already lit up(believe me, it happens) and to counter-act the fact that skeletons can shoot you the second you come into view(OP btw).
forth: there's a strategy to every enemy. here are some of mine:
-Zombies
to easy. they move slower than you and are only threatning when they are joined by other mobs and have you cornered.
just keep attacking him and moving a step back over and over again. if you're good enough, you can attack him the second his invincibility wears off after the last hit, and you'll actually find him moving back. best advice: never rush zombies, take your time with them.
-Spider
medium. I personally find it fun to fight spiders. Spiders are tricky in that you have to constantly keep moving backwards. if you try to rush them, they will jump at you right after you attack and hit you. Ive found that if the spider is above you, it is very easy to hit him as he is jumping at you because you have more time as he is falling down at you. Spiders in caves are even easier. often times they will get stuck trying to climb various walls, and you could easily kill him. best advice: never rush spiders. wait for HIM to jump at you, and hit him in mid air. this stops his jump and lines you up for another strike.
-Skeletons
hard. Ive always hated fighting skeletons. If i get a choice between fighting 5 creepers, or 1 skeleton, I'd choose the creepers. first off, NEVER fight a skeleton in a place where you have bad mobility. Never fight skeletons on cliffs, hills, or in caves if unneccesary. The best tactic against skeletons is strafing (running around the skeleton in circles) around him so that his arrows cant hit you. while strafing, you need to get closer and closer to him and when you are in range, hit him with your sword. 3 hits will normally kill him with an iron sword. In some cases, when the skeleton is in a 2 block high space, he will be unable to shoot arrows at you, which is your chance to kill him. now my last strategy against skeletons is risky but is pretty much the only way to kill them inside caves. first of all, make sure the skeleton gets stuck somewhere in a corner but still sees you(they can see through walls if they saw you once). Then, you need to hide somewhere so that he can still see you through the wall, but cant shoot you. then carefully, run out infront of him, and straf him a little so that he will shoot his first arrow, after he misses you with the arrow, quickly hit him and run back into your hiding spot. you need to do this carefully, and with no one else around or else you may get interupted. Now if you're being chased by several enemies including several skeletons, your doomed. Your only hope is to pray to Notch that the skeleton will accidentally miss and hit another enemy, giving you time to run away. best advice: stay away from them.
-Creepers
Now i personally think that creepers are pretty easy enemies. unfortunatly, most of minecraftians would'nt agree with me on that. Best tactic, hit him, and run back so that he doesnt explode. rinse and repeat. Now sometimes, the creeper might sneak up on you and kill you, something that most people think is impossible to dodge. first off, you need to get used to hearing noises accurately. Obviously you could hear the "ssssss" sound, but you need to learn to react to that. when you hear that, your best bet is to turn around immediately, hit the creeper with ANYTHING, and run back. by hitting him and running back, you make enough distance to save at least half your life bar(that is, if you have full health). In fact, if you have enough room to run, and good enough instinct, the creeper will stop his countdown all together. However, if you develop a keen hearing instinct, you will be able to hear the creeper walking towards you. best advice: develop your instinct. that's it.

With a bow, I shoot like crazy until everything moving is dead. :b
I'm not very skilled at monster fighting either, though.
I was thinking the same.
