I have an acer aspire one d250 netbook that i would like to play minecraft on. i have abandoned windows for linux and i currently dualboot ubuntu 10.10 and jolicloud. Im looking for a distro that doesnt use alot of system requirements so i can play minecraft without a ton of trouble. Im looking for a distro that has a simple desktop environment and has Java (either out of the box or able to install) so i can play minecraft(Obviously) and so i can use an IDE for programming.

All of these gentlemen have made mods that are so original, thought out, and useful that they have become part of my "vanilla" game.

If you're willing to learn, I'd say just try a few distros till you find one that is lightweight. Especially a lightweight desktop manager - which at this point the three bigger ones are KDE, GNOME, and XFCE. In roughly that order if memory serves me - though I think GNOME and XFCE differ far less than compared to KDE.
Also if you haven't already done so you should double the memory in the netbook to the full 2GB.
Edit: First time I've heard of jolicloud. Might have to throw it into virtualbox and see how it does.

Playing games with integrated graphics is like going on the Autobahn in a tricycle.
Ubuntu should be fine; I run Minecraft on 10.10 with the Sun Java VM installed (it's available right in the Software Center). As the previous poster says, you may want to install a more lightweight desktop to maximize the available resources. XFCE is a pretty good compromise between size and convenience.
A netbook is going to be marginal for Minecraft no matter what OS you run though. If it's actually playable, please tell us!
I didn't like the netbook version. I installed that first but then later moved onto xfce. The reason being that with the right window themes you get way more screen realestate. I had a 10" screen with only 600pixels height. Probably I have been too spoilt by my desktop monitor which is 28" at 1920x1200.
You can remove the gnome desktop from Ubuntu and replace it with xfce.
Except that XFCE really isn't that much less of a resource hog anymore compared to GNOME. Such a small difference in fact that it usually comes down to which one do you like better.

I set up Linux mint with no extra software other then an IDE, java, and minecraft and it runs great. 50 fps on normal render and fast graphics

Personal opinion is Fedora but that's just me.
