Been working of this a little for a few days, when it's done, it'll reach the height limit.
The goal is to put the whole world of Xenoblade Chronicles on this map, if I'm lucky, by the time Xenoblade 2 comes out.
When I say the whole world, I mean both the Bionis and the Mechonis. If you haven't heard of xenoblade I'd recommend checking it out, just know it's LONG. The game takes place on the bodies of 2 titans known as the Bionis and the Mechonis, so I'm building both.
If you have you know how big a task is before me.
Additionally, any areas you can't reach in the game, I'm trying to decorate to look nice. The Bionis should be covered in life, and so I'm covering it with details that hopefully help to portray that.
When I'm done I might release the map.
It'll be hollow, just something to look at, not something to play survival on.
I suppose I'll show you what I have so far.
THE RIGHT LEG
Colony 9
From The Game
An indention on the back of the Bionis' right leg which somehow gets sunlight. Rain water pools up inside it, allowing the homs that live here a good source of fresh water for drinking and farming. The colony is split into 3 sections, the residential, military, and comercial districts. It's the game's starting town, and is fairly well protected. The anti-air batteries keep debris from the leg from wrecking the town.
Tephra Cave
From The Game
The first dungeon in the game, also the second, but that's beside the point. It winds around and branches a little more than you might first think. It serves as a connection between Colony 9 and the rest of Bionis. You won't see much of it in the map because the tunnels are to small, but I put it in for completion's sake.
Bionis Knee (Right)
From The Game
A grassy cliff looking out toward the Mechonis. This would look cooler if I had built the Mechonis. Tephra Cave leads out to this cliff, to reach anywhere, you must first travel through the Knee Pass.
Knee Pass
From the Game
This narrow valley is the path to the Bionis leg. While you can't reach them, the tops of the cliffs above you are shown to have thicker plant life than the leg.
Bionis' Upper Right Leg
The first major map area, after the first dungeon and the first town. Pretty sure I'm missing two of those overhangs, I'll deal with that later.
Gaur Plains
From The Game
This is just the first quarter of the Bionis Leg area, not the entire thing. Technically this is Guar Plains, Rho Oasis, the Volf Lair, and the Tirkin Headquarters, but this wide expanse is the most iconic area in the game. The sun catches the area fairly consistently, though it's drier than some areas. Nevertheless it is rich with life and this grassy area has some outstanding views. The Jabos Rock Rest Area is your fast travel point on this section.
Viliera Hill
From The Game
While Gaur plains is the most Iconic part of the Bionis' Leg, it is only a small portion. The leg slopes upward into Viliera Hill, which has many overhangs and a few caves. The Viliera Hill area is also home to the Refugee Camp, Sky Stage, Kisk Cave, and Kamos Guidepost.
Raguel Lake
From The Game
Raguel Lake includes the Tranquil Grotto And the Dashka Shrine. This large body of water has strange almost mushroom shaped pillars of stone coming out of it, and a large bridge stretching from one side to the other. It serves as the link between Viliera Hill and the Maguel Road area.
Maguel Road Area:
From The Game
This area is the last stretch before leaving the Bionis Leg and reaching Colony 6. There's a cave to the side which is full of high level enemies, and the other path takes you to an area above it which isn't all that special, except for the large amount of holes dumping you into the cave below.
Above Colony 9
Not From Game
Above Colony 9 is an area which gets about as much rain, but is fully in the shadow of the leg. This area is covered in algae, moss, and other thin slimey plants that need little light.
Back of Bionis' Right Leg
Not From Game
Along the steep slopes beneath Colony 9, the sun is up semi frequently, giving it a cool atmosphere, rain tends to drain down the slopes in rivers, which provide water for the many evergreens growing there.
The Bionis' Lower Right Leg
Not From Game
The rain flows along the sides of the Bionis, rolling along them until it eventually drips off. The many overhangs and the flow of rain to them allowed these massive vines to grow here over the thousands of years since the Bionis stopped moving.
Bionis Right Foot
Not From Game
While this area gets maybe less sun that the average area on Bionis, most rain from above is captured by the long vines of the Lower Leg Area. Because of this, the foot has a particularly dry atmosphere and the sun that it does get heats it up tremendously, creating a desert with large amounts of shade from above.
Yeah, so it's been a few days since I even touched minecraft. Did a little today, of course that's right when mom pops in to remind me about gaming addiction. First time she's done that to. Anyway, I have a bad work ethic, especially if I don't see a purpose to my goals. I created this thread because I knew that this being public and people wanting me to finish it would give me more purpose to do so. It's already saved the map once, and I'm not done with the right leg. Just, I want to say this project is always going to be walking a fine line as it gets completed, so if I sop before it's done, that shouldn't be a surprise. I also wan to say thank you to the 2 of you who have given support so far. It's something small and seemingly insignificant, but it really does help people for you to let them know you care even a slight amount. Currently the sky stage and kisk cave (on the leg, around villera hill, just past gaur plain) are on my to do list. Hopefully I'll come back to this later today.
Been awhile since I last updated. Sorry. Before I get the Leg 100% Finished there's a small bit on the side of the Maguel road area, over by the redstone lamps that I have to add, and 2 overhangs. Also, if anyone cares enough to respond, when I make Colony 6, should it be restored or should it stay destroyed?

A picture of the entire build so far.
This is an amazing idea! Keep up the great work man!

Xenoblade Chronicles was an amazing game, I hope you do release it, so i can see what the finished product is like.
