Every time I change a simple mob skin it simply downloads 1.8.8 again and poof I never get to see my custom skin. Seems the only way to keep a custom 1.8.8 jar file is disconnect the internet permanently to be able to use custom mob skins.
Why not just use a resource pack? It's effectively the same thing, except you don't have to mess around with the .jar file.
