The new pack is called "Mythos" and is based off of the writings of HP Lovecraft and the creations spawned from them. I will be doing things from my own mind here too. A lot of what inspired my type of creativity growing up comes mostly from the writings of H. P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, art of H. R. Giger, M.C.Escher and the music and videos by Tool.
I will be bringing my own creations to Mythos as well as sticking to the Cthulhu theme to make this more of a project than a pack. It will be a long, but hopefully fun experience.

Old Edly, the toy maker, disappeared sometime last evening and had left no trace as to where he's gone. People closest to him, say they remember unusual sounds coming from the workshop that Edly spent many days and nights in.
"Almost ungodly what goes on in there". Said Mrs Breckenridge about the shop. "What does he have in there but some wooden toys and such? They don't make noise do they? Do they....make noise?" Her husband Robert had to take her away from the scene.
Others say Edly Wayne Jasper was old beyond his days. "Had no right living so long." "Somethin must be keepin him on so long in life." Somethin...not of this place..that's for darn sure!" I'm glad hes gone. Just wish those demented looking toys woulda gone with him."
Well, whatever has happened to Old Edly, it happened neatly, and quietly. Not a thing missing in his shop where he lived. Left them all too. The toys that is. Always were so many of them around. Wobbling down the street, hopping up stairs. Everywhere you looked, you'd see them.
-George Carmania - Senior Field Reporter
Mythos - The Toy Maker's Folly - Part II
As he grew older and older, Edly started losing his memory more and more. He couldn't remember all the details of the animals he had grown to love. Their very structure seemed to meld together in obscurity. In his last days, the townsfolk said they had no idea what most of his toys were any more.
"They resembled farm animals, but didn't act like them at all." I recalled a bystander say as the construct wobbled up and down a hill. Letting out these eerie, almost bovine calls. All wood and junk strewn and stitched together by the very skins from the animals they were supposed to resemble.
We have to get rid of them all!" Mayor Jargans yelled.
But how?
How do you kill something that's not supposed to be living?
......
Mythos - The Toy Maker's Folly - Part III
After the work crew had cleared Edly's shop, they noticed something sitting in a far corner. Something they had missed. It was a stuffed toy bear with buttons for eyes. It was sitting up corner staring blankly at them. The bear had not a mark or scuff on it, unlike the rest of the toy maker's works. One of the workers approached the bear and picked it up. "Make a good present for my daughter, this will". He jammed it into the lapel of his jacket, grabbed the rest of his gear, and left the shop with the rest.
That night, passers by the shop recalled hearing children playing inside the toy shop. But after inspecting the building for open windows or doors, they found everything shut and locked tight. They wrote the noise off as the wind, or hooligan's that must have run off when they heard people approaching. There were many houses in the town, but not all people could afford to live in one. Hooligan's were often caught breaking into abandoned places to stay warm at night.
When the first light shown on the town the next morning, Fred Taylor, a police officer making his rounds, found the building wide open. Not a door or window closed, let alone locked. He inspected the empty building for any trespassers that may still be in the shop but found nothing.
Nothing except....a bear. A little stuffed toy bear.....
After questioning the work crew's foreman and his employees, he discovered that the worker that had picked up the bear hadn't been heard from that morning. What's more, after investigating further, the policeman went to the workers home to find it abandoned. All trace of the worker had disappeared with him. Belongings, furniture, wife, daughter, and two sons, all gone. The officer locked the bear in the evidence room to keep safe until the investigation was complete.
It was gone by morning. Found in the very place it was discovered.
-From the accounts of Fred Taylor, Night shift watchman

April 16, 1913
I began walking towards the shack. Straight away I could see that something wasn't right in the area. There were no signs of animals around, and no birds chirping away. When I found the door, I could see that it was slightly hanging off the hinges. At first, this didn't seem odd. These old shacks were all rundown due to lack of upkeep and apparent old age, but I didn't like the dampness around the entryway. It was the same, never drying, wetness that was still turning my insides out. So I approached slowly.
The door was a little heavier that I expected. I had to physically pull it off the hinges to get in. It seemed waterlogged and had a strange film covering it. I let the door fall to the side and stepped into the shack. It took a little while for my eyes to adjust to the darkness inside the shack. And when they did, I'd wished they hadn't. There was a body, at least part of one, lying in the middle of the room. I really did not want to go in. Something drew me in nonetheless. As I entered, I quickly became aware of the stench of the body. The stench of partial body and something else also. Something familiar yet nothing I could ever have come across in my life. I looked around the room for any other signs of disturbance. there were many papers scattered across the two counters that lined the side walls. Most of which looked like personal notes of some kind.
I read one of the scribblings...
“The words in the book seem to flow like an ancient poem. Dare I speak them? I don't understand yet. Soon I will though.”
I read another...
“Why?! Why did I have to say those words!? I was warned....Now I fear I will pay....”
And another...
”The thing that has emerged from the pit is now hunting me. I think that it is trying to wear me out so it can make a quick kill. Must seek shelter in that old shack I passed earlier today. Hope that heavy door we installed will hold.”
Last one...
”It....it is the Toy Maker. This can't be real!”
I froze just then. Something was watching me, from somewhere. I couldn't tell where. I turned around and tried to focus my eyes, but saw nothing.
Very good concept. I always find it difficult to actually judge a pack from the texture test level screenshot, so no promises, but I'm in love with the idea, anyway. Seems only right that when you dig to the foundations of the world, there ought to be sanity-sapping eldritch horrors waiting there...
One thing (OT a bit) that struck me as odd was when I turned on the sound on the vid... I was kind of expecting "Goin' Down to Dunwich" by the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, or maybe one of their other tongue-in-cheek mythos-based rock songs... oh well.
Make sure to let us all know when this is released!
Zoings! Wow! That's looking extremely cool and way more advanced than I was thinking you had it worked to.
The vid is just hilarious. When I first viewed it, Youtube in it's wisdom threw up a dating agency advert, so along with the excellent choice of music and those cuddly creepers, I'm now going out with a rather fetching triffidly beautiful botanical monstrosity, but she's got a lovely eye...though between you and me she goes off the handle a bit too quick...hissy fits!

Great work, mate!
This pack reminds me a lot of yours :smile.gif:
Love both your pack and this pack though, completely awesome! for both of you!
I will probably have a release soon. It's been a long sleepless night though. So maybe not today..wait...yeah today
:biggrin.gif:
@one - hehe..yeah i was gonna stick with 30's band/orchestra music or find something tongue in cheek, like you mentioned. But the first song, in the first folder that I pulled up was Blondie. You so have to listen close to the words and think "creeper" as the one singing...made me smile, so i went with it.
@Glimm - Glad I could once again give ya a chuckle :biggrin.gif: (the ad was because it was a copyright song...go figure as it's at least 30 years old)
@XSSheep - I'm finding it hard not to do more steampunk in this....lol
I'd love to make a couple variations of this pack. From the snowy wastelands, to the sunken depths, to the future of forgotten ones....so many ideas.

Yeah, I get where you're at - it was just surprising, is all.
Maybe I'll put my FRAPS where my mouth is and do a creeper vid after you release (with permission, of course) and "Six Gun Gorgon Dynamo"... sounds like a 200-view winner to me
Dude, this texture pack looks so nice, I can't wait until it's released! And that creeper is one of the best I've ever seen!!!! Keep it up
Thanks for the s!!
I'm working on the first official release as we speak. I'm re-tweaking some things in order to make them more "Innsmouth" as far as the basic building blocks go (wood, cobble and the like), and "Forgotten Ones" as far as the ores, ore blocks, and other things that you may find "naturally occurring" so as to get the feeling that an ancient race was here before you.
@Darth - I'm gonna try and do a really cool deep water, ice, and snow texture for this. Should be fun to try :biggrin.gif:

Egyptian style hieroglyphs on sandstone blocks
One of the Elder Symbols on Diamond blocks
A repeating tentacle texture for soul sand
Moldy wood texture (Innsmouth being a seaport)
1920's style carpet for the cloth blocks
A blood stained stone block
Make wires small runes/elder symbols
Zombies could be Deep Ones
Add a board to the kz.png so you can board up windows
Huge props for doing this, I was just about to start up my own texture pack for the same thing, and really not looking forward to it. Instead, I am going to focus on a Human Mod that will add Innsmouth inhabitants, also, I am going to start a WIP map thread for my Innsmouth map tonight.

:biggrin.gif:
Already started on the zombie/deep one, but reeaaaly wanna get it right. So I keep goin back to the drawing board on parts of it. The symbols idea is also something I got started but haven't gone back to those textures yet. kz.png was goin to be art I have collected (not pics of Cthulhu..sorry that's cheesy to me) of Cthulhu inspired works. The boarded op window thing is an awesome idea...will have to do that. Same with the carpets (although might have to be alt textures).
Would love to include your human mod iffin you approve.
Couple more things to do and then...a release!!

Question. Which is more like what you would like to see as you envision Cthulhu? I personally liked #1, but thought it was maybe too futuristic or didn't fit somehow.
(the dispenser and furnaces are the problem really..new vs old)

I really like the torches! I have a mod that doesn't render them correctly at a distance, but up close they look great.
Now that's just awesome! I'll have to put that (if you don't mind) in the OP. I'm gonna get, and use the map for running around, testing the pack.
If you are making Innsmouth, and using the pack to run around, you'll really have to tell me what you think. Like the gravel. It's from Stankepack, and I like it, but never thought of it for streets and such. How's it lookin for you?

HOORAY finally someone is doing a Lovecraft texture pack. The gothic/steampunk blocks are really fitting here. I like the way this is looking, do you think you might be able to change the pictures, ala "Pickman's Model" Style?
