This map is a rebuilt version of the 'Texture Pack Test Track', which was created by copperdomebodha, then updated by Lilyo, and is currently maintained by Steelfeathers. (This was posted in his thread first, but they said make your own thread, so...)
Now you too can have a TPTT with a smaller filesize, and without those pesky mountains behind the setup!
View lots of blocks!
Check out your art!
Also includes slabs, special carts, tripwires, fire, an End Portal...
...in one handy mob-free location (if you figure out how to keep the bats out!)
thanks, i always have to refind a test track map because i delete the old one ._.Next time put a folder in the zip file, don't make us make a folder and unzip it..
Two things:
1) For some reason, I can't for the life of me get a Wither painting placed on the art wall. It cycles through every other one...
2) I hope bats disappear on Peaceful, because otherwise you'll have to avoid them photobombing!
Updated for 1.4.6 and a little bit further (13w01b)!
Added new Redstone blocks, heads, moved a few blocks around. Not 100% on how you place the hopper, but it's in there with a trapped chest (round the back, missed off the screenshots above).

Updated for 1.5
The quartz blocks, redstones blocks, activator rails and such are all in!
Some of it, like the hoppers and trapped chests, are round the back.
For it to be a true test map you need to add some small - medium builds out of different materials.
Like a stone building that uses a combo of stone type blocks, a log cabin, a workshop that's a combo of stone and wood.
Often I see a pack that has a lot of artistic merit and care placed in to each block only to have the pack look horrible with many builds forcing me to not use it. (When a pack wrecks the look of wood it tends to be a deal breaker for me).
While this map showcases each block in it own merit, Minecraft is more then one block. Also Texturers tend to use fancy graphical enhancement mods that randomize ore, connect textures. These blocks need to be showcased on at least a 3x3 surface.
Then again I assume any texturer worth their salt is also at the very least a competent builder and would make their own maps. This maps is likely better used by Youtubers who "review" packs.
So everything I said is probably a non issue.
Kind of agreed. I based this off existing 'Test Tracks', where everything's stacked up neatly in one place for quick reviewing, and one of every block barely fits on the screen, let alone 3x3. People can build their own things to see how stuff looks, as I do.
(This was posted in his thread first, but they said make your own thread, so...)
Now you too can have a TPTT with a smaller filesize, and without those pesky mountains behind the setup!
Check out your art!
Also includes slabs, special carts, tripwires, fire, an End Portal...
...in one handy mob-free location (if you figure out how to keep the bats out!)
Download for 1.6.1 (2nd July 2013)
Download for 1.5 (14th March 2013)
No AdFly, just Dropbox :-)
Made possible by:
X = 327.3
Y = 10 (feet pos), 11.62 (eye pos)
Z = 338.3
F = 3
I pretty much built it on the spawn point.
Two things:
1) For some reason, I can't for the life of me get a Wither painting placed on the art wall. It cycles through every other one...
2) I hope bats disappear on Peaceful, because otherwise you'll have to avoid them photobombing!
I put the map inside a folder in the .zip too, so it doesn't "explode" everywhere!
I could hear a bat squeaking when I took the picture, so maybe not 100% mob-free any more...
(OK, I miss the mountains a little)
Added new Redstone blocks, heads, moved a few blocks around. Not 100% on how you place the hopper, but it's in there with a trapped chest (round the back, missed off the screenshots above).

I was playing about with command blocks, so hopefully now mobs won't spawn further and it's midday forever!
