Extremely realistic clouds, sunsets, sunrises, moon and sun. This resource pack works with 1.10, 1.9, 1.8, etc. This is a remixed version of the Halcyon Days resource pack. This is in accordance with Halcyon Days' license regulations (view changes made). I am not claiming any files as being created by me.
In-Depth Installation Instructions
Download file (below)
Install Optifine (required)
Launch Minecraft, disable clouds (Options > Video Settings > Details > Toggle "Clouds" until it shows "Off"
Move downloaded file ("Clouds-Pack - updated.zip") into your Minecraft Resource Packs folder
Go to Options > Resource Packs > Hover over "Clouds-Pack - updated.zip" under the Available Resource Packs header, and click the arrow pointing to the right
Make sure you enable the Sky in the Detail Settings
Make sure you enable the Stars in the Detail Settings
Make sure you enable the Custom Sky in the Quality Settings
If you are successful you should only see "Clouds-Pack - updated.zip" and Default under the Selected Resource Packs header, and only the realistic clouds (no default MC clouds).
The Clouds Pack also works for 1.6 and 1.7, I am not providing that installation tutorial. Here is what Minecraft Wiki says: "Installing a texture pack"
Note: The clouds in this resource pack only appear when render distance is equal to or higher than 8.
If you are using a Shaders Mod, with a Shaders Pack:
Using a shaders mod, like Karyonix's Shaders Mod, with a shaders pack will most likely cause an error where the clouds tilt at an angle. To fix this you need to open the zipped shader pack and edit the composite.fsh with a text editor. Inside the composite.fsh file there will be a line that contains the following:
"const float sunPathRotaiton" (or something nearly identical to it). You may have to use a "find" function, or manually search through the document. If there is no line that contains this, that means you do not need to worry about the cloud-tilting error.
Next to it there will be a value that may look similar to this:
"const float sunpathRoation = -40.0f;" You will need to change the value (in this case it is -40.0), to 0.0 (make sure you keep the F and semicolon after it.
Making this change to your shader pack should fix the error of tilted clouds.
The original version of the Clouds Pack includes only the clouds and modified sky, as seen in the images.
The modified version of the Clouds Pack has all the features of the original Clouds Pack, but changes the textures for the sun and moon phases. Here are two images showing it off:
Note: Some of the features in this video are not present in the Clouds Pack, but instead are mods or additions. This is not an official video, but instead a nice person's introduction video that they personally made.
Here is a cool add-on that Scarabcoder has made, adding a realistic sun and moon:
Thanks for this.
I've been using it along with the default pack and it is marvelous. I would like to suggest to add some form of random night sky? such as at some point in the night, there would be shooting stars, or maybe you could see the milky way at some point of a random night, etc.
Again, thanks for this!
Those are good ideas, I will look into that. I am glad you enjoy the resource pack!
this is a very good idea for those people that use the default textures or are not really comfortable mixing packs themselves to get the same effect. Diamonds to you my friend.:Diamond::Diamond::Diamond:
