The birch looks great, and would definitely satisfy me. But if you ever go back to it, comparing to real birch, you should add some small black bits, and some slightly peach coloured spaces (you'll know what I mean if you compare it to real birch bark). But that looks good now! Well done.
I don´t like the birch so much - it´s a bit unnatural in colour, the dark spots are too uniform in size and it could use more roundness. So I would suggest that you add more variety in the size of the dark spots, give them more yellow/brown, maybe add some peeled off bark parts and add shading and colour to the left and right edges of the block.
But I understand if you want to do that at a later time, because birches are a real pain to texture and it is looking good enough for now.
Yep i will have quick play and tweak with your suggestions and leave the thing alone for now grrr
You both should have new terrain/gui files now? What did you think of the hud Moo?
Mr Corner, what block/blocks should i do next i'm feeling indecisive tonight so a little push helps the brain cells
I agree with corner, that birch looks really good, probably won't need a revisit
I do have some questions about the future of the pack. Do you plan to add support for Connected Textures (including the random textures, I think it was called Natural Textures for a while), Random Mobs, and just general mods?
The reason I ask is because I would love to be able to have textures for my SimpleOres mod that match this pack. I could do it myself if I have your permission, or you could do it if you wanted supporting mods can get tricky though, so I understand if you don't want to go down that path
Thank you, and keep up the amazing work
EDIT: Also, another future question: Will you add animated items (mainly torches), so that they are animated when you hold them in your hand? I have seen some packs do this and it really is a great touch
Phew.... lots of wants there
Well, there's a lot to do just to get the basic pack done so first things first get the basics out of the way.
Mods that are in the early stages i will have it running with will be, Shaders Sonic Ether, Connected textures on a basic level, with a more advanced stage later on if time permits
TEKKIT will get support but will take some time, there is a LOT of blocks/Items but i'm looking forward to making the machine based blocks.....should be fun.
Mobs, i really havent put any thought into till i'm happy with how the world looks/feels in the early stages we will see.
I will have to take a look at your Simple Ores mod
A lot will depend if people like the pack, if it gets popular and there's a demand for more content.
I guess spread the word, if it goes down well it helps motivate to contine adding and support peoples wishes
Mr Corner, what block/blocks should i do next i'm feeling indecisive tonight so a little push helps the brain cells
Well, I guess the stone bricks? They're my personal favourite textures to make, but they can be difficult in my opinion, especially with 128x128, so the stone brick is what I'd like to see, but only if you feel like working on them.

Fare well everyone! My time to retire has come! "And with that, POW! I'm gone." ---Lord Crump
Its fits the pack better colour wise, just as you said "warmer" YESS i can leave it alone for now ........Okay on to the bricks.
How did you get on with the menu buttons?
Well, I only got one done, but then when you sent the updated images over, I decided that making those buttons was very time consuming, when the wood version was if anything worse, as it seemed very busy, more so than the cobble version. I'm sorry to say, but I saved over the one I started. I have my Definitance pack and an entire pack to work on for the painting palette contest that I need to work on, so I didn't have time to work on them when the outcome wasn't looking promising.
Can't wait for the stone brick! The last blocks you've been working on were things like iron blocks, bars, birch, etc. so I'd like to see another stone related block, it should look good. Based on your stone and cobble, you seem quite capable of making stone textures!

Hey not a problem at all, i know you have a lot on so was surprised you offered so thanks for the time. I'll look at the GUI buttons a bit later
Okay, WIP on the stone brick still working on the style so they have similar look to the stone. Did try them 3 high but looked too big so changed to 4 high.
That stone brick looks very nice, and very realistic. Well done! I do think though, that they could use a bit more edge shading. They have a great amount of cracks and deformations to look realistic, but the edges seem like they could use some more light shading on the two sides and dark shading on two sides, so it seems a bit more 3D. I notice though that they seem to have the level of detail I'd expect to see in a 2 brick tall pattern, I only noticed when I read that they were 4 bricks tall. They are really detailed!
I'm fairly certain that this pack will become one of the most popular packs of all time.
Of. All. Time.
Seriously great work, and you're notably fast(er) than most artists out here, and yet your work is still high-standard
*is jelly*
Yeah, you may be one of the few people that can make textures fast enough to keep up with Minecraft's updates as well as work on other things to completion! And you'd be the only person I know of who could do it with an HD pack, let alone a 128x128!

Umm wow thank you, okay not too much pressure!
Really pleased people are looking forward to using it, that's a BIG statement i really don't know about that at all but i'll just keep pushing on.
I guess I work quite fast, back in the day i was use to tight schedules, mile stone targets and publishers pressing for ever updated demos, with producers breathing down your neck.....
I've also been VERY unsocial able and getting very focused ( too many late nights) with any time i have spare from family and running a business, I haven't done any game graphics for 12 years! but i use a lot of the skills in my business so kept up a skill set level (with photoshop) and enjoying being part of the creative process again
I also touch type really fast and ramble on LOL........ sorry
The ONLY blocks I can see that I don't like are the long grass, side grass, and leaves. The grass stuff isn't bad, it just seems more unrealistic than the rest. And the leaves have a funky way of wrapping, and they seem too large.

The official Bluebird continuation is underway! Please come and help keep the pack alive!
Cheers guys, i'll respond in more depth tomorrow, 3am time to cut out and get some zzz's
Been working into the shading on bricks its going to take some time, the cracks wont be so much cracks more a rugged surface, and the cracked stone block will be proper split/cracked.
Noted on the cracks Moo will see how it develops with the shading.
Shading work on the left.....i hope you would tell anyways.

You need to do a livestream, I want to see how you make your awesome textures!!!!!

The sidegrass texture needs some shading on the dirt, but other than that, clicking ois did not dissapoint me in the least. This is purely awsome, the color choice and errythin.

You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.

Not done anything like that, but yes i could look into it. Its quite a messy process on some i.e lots of layers, transparency filters and on others its more draw, dodge and burn with a bit photo manipulation of some source images where i will pick out a detail i like or create a texture with just a small area and build into a layer or create a brush.

Ah, this is something that has bothered me, i have done a texture of dirt with shading and its in place in the terrain file but it doesn't appear i the game it looks like it picks the main dirt tile instead that has no shading on it. IS this a job for CTM?
Maybe give the stone bricks a hint of a brown shade?
Stone bricks are a big pet peeve of mine. I can't find a texture pack in 128x resolution with stone bricks I like. Ended up doing my own many times, but I don't like these either...
Hey, these are very much a work in progress and i just wont be able to please everyone with every texture but i'll get them to a more finished state, and yes they are just being worked in greyscale at the moment and the texture shading is only about 30% complete.
Glad you like the overall pack so far from your earlier comments, i'm sure people will end up swapping some things for personal use when its done
Out of interest whats makes a stone brick texture for you, and what doesn't?
Okay I´m trying to keep this short since I don´t have so much time at the moment.
The birch texture you posted is much better, more natural, more interesting, I´d just say to remove half of the tiny holes. Right now it looks a bit like somebody shot at this tree with a 20-gauge shotgun.
I like the stone bricks, but maybe rethink the amount and size of cracks because as of now they could easily be mistaken with the cracked stonebrick. And what would you do for this one then? Even more cracks? Also they feel a bit too grey to me, so I would suggest a light diagonal transition to a more saturated area on the lower right of each brick.
And the gui you sended looks nice too, very clean and simple, though I personally don´t like this gradient (sort of chromed) look it has, because it could easily switch from simple to cheap. So instead maybe try to make it more plain with a very very light gradient or maybe even make it half-transparent.
I have some more critique for your terrain.png as well but that will have to wait.
Thank for the comments again Moo, you have the actual terrain file so are really scrutinising the texture work up close and it does help. Also bear in mind i have worked quite quickly on getting textures in so will need to go back and refine/tweak areas (grass side needs a lot tweaking where i scaled it larger and you can see the 2x pixel lines where it was scaled horizontally, that's one off the top of my head.
I'm much happy with Birch bark, but yep will lessen the peppering of black.
Soften the HUD a bit more, lets have a play with that.
I've covered bricks i think, WIP still a lot of work on those but noted on everyone's comments.

Thanks for feedback, grass still very much a discussion lol i'm happy with the sides but they do need refining. The leaves are rather big on tress yes i may even do something completely different. Also in the pictures the leaves will look a little strange sometimes as the shader mod is moving them, i'll turn this setting off
I hope i've got back to everyone, i know i just won't please all with the work its impossible, but i'm blown away by some of the comments I will continue to build the pack with my vision and to some that just wont appeal in full or partly.
Those look superb! Although, like you acknowledged, there's tiling issues there - notably, a semi-circular crack in the lowest-centre brick; really getting on my nerves, can't unsee it.
btw: try to avoid the triple-posting, you should instead edit your progress in your previous posts (your thread doesn't seem to leave front-page anyway)
EDIT: just noticed we're pumpkin-bros (your avatar)
Thanks kinda getting there, but may do something totally different not sure yet.
Oops will keep an eye on my posting.
Needed a non default avatar it looked kinda cheerful
