NOTE: Yes, this is still a WIP. Don't PM me asking why several textures are incomplete, I will probably disregard you.
Hello fellow Minecraftians, and welcome to Modern Refined. This texture pack brings a new perspective to Minecraft, changing the fantasy-themed default into something believable. The pack is great for creative building, as well as being tailored to survival. Simply put, this texture pack is a win-win combination for anything you require.
The pack came to mind after seeing Moderncraft lose development many eons ago. I resolved to use what I knew from skinning experience and inputted it right into texturing. A lot of similarities, I must say. As I got to work on the terrain blocks, I knew that this was going to be amazing. More amazing than my Tribes Mod becoming a texture pack.
There are a lot of confusing elements changed due to the realism, but I’m 106.28% sure you will understand these once they are explained. Thus, we move on to pictures!
Things to come:
Completed terrain DONE!
More animations (lava being sewerage waste and others)
Mobs
Items
GUI
Art
Armour
Particles and miscellaneous

A Gangster (Zombie), with strong that that'll knock your teeth out. And other body parts and fluids.
V1.1 pics
Redstone is now Copper wiring, Trapdoors are smoother, Glowstone is now Flourescent Lighting, Soul Sand is Fertile Soil, Nether Warts are now Orange Bushes, and Wooden Doors look far more aesthetically pleasing.
From left to right: Enderman are now Thieves, Zombie Pigmen are Bodyguards. Also in this picture is the new wood texture, which I personally really enjoy. Let's hope you do too!
From left to right: Silverfish are now Maggots, Skeletons are now Thugs, Creepers are now Armless-bleeding Suicide Bombers. Also in this picture is the new nether brick texture (white for the pristine mansions (fortresses) in the million dollar mile (the Nether).
The Player holding a Loading-action rifle (Bow), aiming at a Thug. A custom animation for pulling back the spring-loader is added, as well as custom bullets (Arrows).
Older pictures (From previous updates)
A simple town, located aside a lushious mountain.
A natural spawning mountain, crossing a snow and plains biome.
A small kitchen, with an oven (furnace) and blueprints (crafting table).
A beach house, with detailed architecture.
The Million Dollar Mile (The Nether), home to the guardians of the rich. Be wary of turrets (ghasts) and bodyguards (zombie pigman) as you traverse on the red marble (netherrack) and white bricks (nether brick). Beautiful plants (nether warts) grow upon fertilised soil (soul sand), while flourescent lighting (glowstone) hangs above.

Gold: A strict level of security. Having this on your pack indicates that your textures can only be used after written permission is obtained from the creator of the pack. It also indicates that adfly links on remixes are never acceptable, under any circumstances.
A lot of the blocks like wood planks, cobblestone, netherbrick and more are way too blurry and shaded weirdly.
Blurry? Ah, it's probably the way I've grown into shading. I usually start with a highlight in the centre or top-left and broad out my colour range to show depth.
The dirt doesn't tile properly, and the wood looks as if it is further out in the center than the sides, rather than being tapered on the edges, maybe you could remove the pillow shading and make the shading highlight the edges instead.
It looks good otherwise though.

Well, I can only improve so thank you all for the constructive input. I'll continue to work on the textures for mobs, as well as fix-ups for the already existing terrain blocks.
An update will be released tonight, following a number of changes to the terrain, including the completion of the end textures. It will also feature a few mobs including the character (You, the player [if you play offline, you will use the skin]).
I'll check back if there are any comments or questions ;D
Skinning is quite different to texturing. In texturing there s usually a direct light source whereas in skinning you nearly always pillow shade.
The textures seem a but blurry but the sand is excellent.
As I've said before, I only recently noticed the large margin of difference. But I can tell you now, the planks have a nice windswept feel to them, as well as other blocks having interchanging the pillow shading.
Okay everyone, another update is coming out in about 1 or two days. I've finally made some good logs with the assistance of texturing tutorials. And a few more surprises await in the update ;D
